Chapter 857 He Has A New Woman
Chapter 857 He Has A New Woman
Muprary.
The day had already dawned brightly, with people bustling in and out of the building. The sound of anxious footsteps echoed, striking at the heart like a drumbeat.
On the large screen, the red dot that had been silent for a long time finally started to flicker again.
Isaac and the others had been waiting here for a long time. They had finally received signs of Charles, who had been missing for several days.
Charles proactively shared his location and assured them of his safety.
“Give the order to send trustworthy people to Mr. Newton, and make sure to bring Mr. Newton back safely.”
Isaac pinched the bridge of his nose, they had not rested for even a moment these past days in their search for Charles’s whereabouts, fearing they might miss even the slightest glimmer of hope.
“Dispatch a helicopter, and then bring the doctor over as well. We have to prevent any potential problems.”
“Yes.”
The subordinates around him stepped back, tirelessly setting off to arrange all the related tasks.
Upon receiving the message, Whitney immediately met up with Isaac.
Just a few days ago, she looked exquisite and beautiful.
However, due to what happened to Charles recently, she hadn’t been getting enough rest for a few days. The exhaustion and weariness on her face were visible to the naked eye, and faint red lines
could be seen in her eyes, which was heartbreaking to see.
“Is everything arranged?”
“Upon receiving the message, I immediately sent someone to make arrangements. We will pick up
Mr. Newton right away…
Isaac stood behind Whitney, clearly reporting his plan.
Then, he changed the subject immediately and said hesitantly, “Mrs. Newton, you mustn’t neglect your health. It’s not worth it. Now that we finally have news of Mr. Newton, it would indeed leave everyone worrying about both of you if something serious were to happen to you.”
Whitney walked over to the chair nearby and sat upright, nodding slightly in a somewhat distracted manner, indicating that she understood.
But how could she not worry?
Since the day Charles went missing, nearly half a month had already passed.
At the airport, the roar of the helicopter was thunderous. It’s difficult-to-bear noise. seemingly comforted everyone who was about to go find Charles.
“Mr. Turner, everything is ready. We can take off at any time.”
His subordinate held an instrument, standing solemnly by Isaac’s side. As they watched the flickering red light, Isaac couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement.
In these past twenty days, he had been living a life worse than death, burdened with an overwhelming sense of guilt.
Just as they were preparing to take off, one of the subordinates suddenly came running over. Then he whispered a few words into Isaac’s ear.
Soon after, he saw Whitney, dressed in a long white dress, walking over with an anxious look. on her face. Isaac quickly went to meet her.
“Mrs. Newton, you… how come you’re here? Aren’t you supposed to be resting?”
Whitney shook her head, her eyes full of worry.
“Isaac, could you please let me come with you? I want to see for myself that he’s safe. Is that alright?”
Faced with Whitney’s request, Isaac found it impossible to refuse her.
The helicopter took off, and based on the signal of Charles’ location, Isaac and his team quickly found the place Charles sent.
That was a fishing village on the border.
Since it was close to the border, there were foreigners around here.
However, the majority of people living in the fishing village were the elderly and children who had stayed behind. Generally, Charles preferred not to interact with these people. Overall, the village remained quite underdeveloped.
Nonetheless, the sky here was bluer and the sea was clearer.
Seagulls hovered low over the vast sea, their cries echoing, as if this was their true home.
None of them truly appreciated the beauty of this place. Even if it was stunningly picturesque, it couldn’t compete with a heart full of worries.
Charles was quietly waiting on the seaside beach, waiting for Isaac and the others to arrive.
This place was spacious and people seldom walked there. Hence, there was ample space for helicopter to land and take off.
The wind blew his short hair on his forehead, and his delicate deep blue phoenix eyes were downcast. His lips were tightly pressed together and he was lost in thought.
He glanced sideways at Winona who was next to him.
The sunlight refracted in her amber eyes, and they look bright and captivating.
He lifted his gaze once more to the sea and the sky, sighing silently.
Birds and fish, after all, tread different paths.
Perhaps, one day, the bird will choose to stay in this sea for the fish.
“Listen, it’s the sound of a helicopter.”
Winona looked up at the sky. A black dot was moving closer from a distance. She knew that the person coming to pick up Charles had arrived.
“It’s time for you to leave.”
Winona arched her eyebrows, her smile radiant, “Your family has come to take you home. They must have been worried about you these past few days.”
Charles looked into Winona’s eyes. There wasn’t a trace of reluctance in them, as if their time spent together these past days hadn’t left any profound impact on her.
Charles tugged at the corner of his mouth, mocking with a smirk.
Winona really resembles Gwendolyn. Even the way she never takes him to heart is strikingly similar
The helicopter had arrived overhead where Charles was standing, yet Charles remained motionless, his face devoid of any expression.
Her eyes, delicate as jewels and deep blue, held an ancient frost that never thawed.
“Winona, will you still remember me?”
He turned his head, asking a question devoid of emotion.
Winona forced herself not to look at him. She turned around, her voice carrying a hint of a sob.
“I’m glad to have met you, but my grandmother used to say that some things can’t be forced. You and I are from different worlds.”
Charles remained silent, his gaze steady on her face, his thoughts inscrutable.
Looking down from the helicopter window, Whitney saw the person she had been thinking of standing upright on the beach, and the heavy stone hanging in her heart finally landed.
She let out a reluctant sigh. Both her hands trembled slightly from nervousness.
However, she quickly noticed another figure standing beside Charles.
Looking down from above, the figure appeared to be a woman.
Just as her worries were laid to rest, an unusual feeling suddenly surged from the depths of her heart.
The helicopter gradually descended, stirring up the surrounding sand and dust. Whitney, unable to contain her excitement, rushed out of the helicopter. There was a hint of faint. redness in her eyes.
In the end, her worry outweighed other emotions, blurring her eyes with a mist of tears.
Charles was standing there. A slight moment of surprise crossed his face when he saw that it was Whitney.
Before the incident, he had no idea that Whitney had come to Muprary.
But his surprise quickly subsided, and he regained his indifferent expression. His eyelashes lowered slowly.
Whitney threw herself forward, choking back sobs. “I’m so relieved that you’re fine.
The moment she held him in her arms. Whitney realized what it truly meant to feel secure.
Her heart seemed to settle down in an instant
After the embrace, she let him go, scrutinizing him carefully. With a worried tone, she asked. “How are you feeling? Is there any discomfort? We brought a doctor with us. Would you like to have a check- up?”
Charles slightly furrowed his brows, reaching out to gently pat her slender shoulder in a comforting manner. His voice was calm as he replied, “I’m fine. Let’s go back.”
She could clearly feel his indifference. Whitney was taken aback, and somewhat surprised.
Yet, her gaze unintentionally caught sight of Winona, who had already stood far away.
Earlier, the view wasn’t clear from the plane. But now, Whitney quickly discerned what was going on upon taking a closer look. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
This lady bears a slight resemblance to Gwendolyn.
Winona was also looking at her. The gazes of the two ladies met from afar.
Winona gave her a slight smile which was polite and measured. There was hardly any hint of confrontation in her eyes.
Whitney couldn’t muster a smile. She turned her gaze back to Charles, who was looking down, avoiding her eyes. This made it impossible for her to discern what Charles was thinking.
But, she could vaguely sense something.
