Wolf Bait (Perry and Jonas)

Chapter 190

Chapter 190

“I have to admit that I didn’t think you’d ever want to work with me again,” the princess says as she clicks away at her controller. Her focus is on the huge eighty–something–inch TV in front of her. She growls when gets killed.

“You should switch to keyboard. Better yet, throw the console out and get a PC,” I say and step back when I blink and she’s standing in front of me with her fangs on display.

“Oh, you’re one of those people,” she smirks and then turns her attention to the guys behind me. She stops in front of James and then looks back at me. “Are you fucking them both?

“No,” I roll my eyes at her.

“That’s too bad. I bet this one is the gentle one,” she pokes his chest. James smirks and watches her spin on her tip toes like a ballerina until she gets to her very girly desk. “What do you want?”

“Jesse and Luke,”

“In exchange for?” she smirks. I step forward and hand her the pink file. “Oooh,” she sings. “It’s pink. I love someone who goes that extra mile for me, Perry. You’re my favorite,” she starts going through the pictures in there and then slams the file on the table. “And all you want is two big–mouth assholes? Why? These are worth so much more, baby cakes,

“I got a new pet,” I say looking over at James. “A gift from my mate and well he’s a little spoiled. They belong to him,”

“Oh,” she says and is at his side in a flash. She raises his arm and leans in to sniff him. “That is a really cute gift. The guys would kill me if I ever made the request. They’re biters. Both of them,” she rolls her eyes. “You must be a very good boy, she giggles and moves back to her desk. “I see you also brought me a gift,” she points at the box James brought in. “What is it?” Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.

“I have a proposition. One that can strengthen our alliance once you’ve established your home in the Royal circle,”

“Perry,” she says with a sly smirk on her lips. “I’ve thought about it. Don’t get me wrong, but I’m straight,”

“Okay, you little freak,” I wave James forward feeling my face heat up because if I’m right, she just suggested I offered her to fang me. I hear fang venom is one of the best highs in the world. James places the box on her desk and leans into her.

“My veins are available if you’re up for a fight,” he growls lowly, but it’s a clear threat. She grins and swats the air in front of her.

“Your pet is adorable. I can just eat him up,” she growls back and snaps her teeth at him.

He doesn’t move a muscle and it irritates her. She pops the top trying to hit him but he catches it with ease. He’s already been bitten and he’s probably still upset from his last encounter with these things. I clear my throat and he finally steps back to stand next to his brother.

“Oh, my god,” she says holding up the limited edition Kuromi night light I bought because the place I got it from was out of the Hello Kitty ones and I hate coming up empty handed. The King got me the Hello Kitty one in the stuff he bought for me and she’s an e–girl. Why the fuck not, right? “These are sold out everywhere. Thank you,”

“You’re welcome,”

She takes a stack of files out and sets them next to the box and begins to go through them at vamp speed. She stops looking up at me with disbelief before she goes into a drawer to produce a pair of fake fucking glasses to put on. I look back at the King to see him shake his head at her antics.

-And you thought I was dramatic. I tell him.

-Well, now I know you’re slightly less insane than a hybrid, my love.- he smirks.

“In an insane world it is the sane who are called crazy,” she giggles and looks up at me with the evilest smile I’ve ever seen on someone’s face. “What the fuck is this, Lycan Queen?” she comes around and takes my hands in hers almost pleadingly. “Whatever you want, I will give you,” she pushes up on her tiptoes “Who do you want me to eat for this?”

“The Falcon. You can have his labs. Violetta and I will take the rest.”

“And the labs include all of this?” she pulls away abruptly to place her hands on the files.

“Yes. Except for this kid,” I say taking the pictures of Hunter Phurry, “His files and the files on these people,” I show her the last one. “Never existed in this database. The rest is yours,”

“I can’t just give you a yes,” she growls and disappears only to reappear on the giant bean bag chair she had been playing video games when we arrived. “I have to discuss this with my mates. They have the final say. This means the alpha will be involved and you know my alpha looooves to talk shop. He’s going to want in on the business,”

“There is no business. We can give him a cut of the assets, but we’re terminating the rest of it. The companies are divided between Lycan Tech and Wolfe Inc. They will remain that way. This is what I’m offering you. There isn’t room for demands,”

Her eyes flash red when she takes a step away from me. I take a deep breath and release the hold I have on myself. Her little vampire mate appears behind her with his eyes focused on me. For someone who likes to make people uncomfortable, she doesn’t like when there’s pushback. Especially when what’s in front of her is stronger.

“Back away,” he hisses.

“I don’t see why that would be necessary. You’ve known me for a while, Lily. You know I don’t play games with my money. There’s a difference between greed and ambition. Not a very big difference, but I can demonstrate it to you if you like,”

“We’ll talk to the alpha,” she says holding her arm out to keep her mate from attacking me. He’s on the verge of snapping. There’s this little glint in her eyes as she looks up at me. “It’s cheating you know,”

“Is it? Or has no one ever been able to put you in your place before?” I scoff. I take a deep breath and relax my muscles to get a hold of myself once again. Tears slip down her face as she takes a step back into her mate who is quick to put his hand on her throat to pull her closer. “I apologize for scaring you, Princess. It was never my intention, but this is a serious matter. I’m sure Vy has told you that I can be a very serious person when it’s called for,”

“I’ll reach out when everything is reviewed and settled,” she rolls her eyes at me. “You can go now,”

“Our exchange,” I remind her. She takes a deep breath and nods as she taps away at her phone at an ungodly speed.

“Right, and my payment is where?”

“My car outside,”

“Let’s go. They will be brought up soon. They need to get cleaned up,”

James’s entire profile tenses up. His scent takes a burn edge to it and I reach out to point him out.

“It’s almost over,” I remind him.

His eyes snap to mine and for an instant, he looks like a deer caught in headlights before he gets control of himself. He turns around and heads for the door. The two of them follow. The King and I walk behind them.

-That was unexpected.- he says in my head. I give him a side glare because clearly, she heard us the first time. How deep can she read into my mind?

You’re a bitch. I think loudly in my head, but it doesn’t seem to reach her. Maybe she’s ignoring me or it was a coincidence that she said what she did. I can’t risk it. I start reciting the ingredients I used for the pho that came out decent. Better than I expected. I loved the King’s reaction to it.

-Stop thinking about all the ways you want to kill her. I think she can hear us.-

-Then that’s all I’m going to continue thinking about.- he smirks -So she knows.-

Mackenzie is waiting for us outside with the packages. Four vampires come out of nowhere and open up the back of the G- Wagon. James pulls Mackenzie behind him as they start unloading the two body bags and the jars.

“They wake up about six minutes after popping the hearts back in,” I tell Lily.

“Is it exactly six minutes?”

“I’m not sure. Give or take. I was in the middle of an assignment when it happened to me,” I shrug. She lets out a little excited squeal when she catches the eye of the jars.

“It’s still beating,” she coos. “Is it like that because of the way it was put in the jar?”

“No, it’s looking for its way back to the body,”

“Hurry up. Bring the juice pouches,” she waves her hand at the woman she took the jar from. Mackenzie wraps her arms around James when he lets out a low growl.

If she takes notice, she doesn’t say anything. She skips after the bodies with the jar tucked under her arm. A few moments later, a woman and a man are escorted out. The woman is about my size. Her long dark hair serves as a curtain to cover her face. The two of them are handcuffed properly with weighted arm binds.

The man has a muzzle around his face and I’m sure she does as well. They’re both wearing matching sweatsuits. I hold my arm out to stop James from stopping her when the vampire behind her unlocks the mask. It hits the floor and the moment her arms are free they’re around the man’s body. The sound of her growl echoes in the dark courtyard as she rips him apart without having shifted. I lower my arm and James is at her side like a doting boyfriend.

This man is interesting to look at. His eyes are a mesmerizing neon green that zero in on me as he walks past. The girl has similar eyes. She has delicate features, but her eyes give way to the little asshole hiding in there.

“She’s the reason why we’re here,” she growls at me.

“I’m also the reason why you’re out. I suggest you get over it and quickly or I’ll bring you back,”

“I’d love nothing more than to have her back,” Lily appears at the top of the entrance steps. The confidence in Jesse’s demeanor changes and she backs into James. “The aggressive ones are my favorite. When the former prince fucks up, I promise to keep him alive,”

“Now we’re talking,” the King nods. “You’ve got yourself a deal. I did think the box wasn’t enough,”
