Chapter 39 Jealous
Hailey’s Point of View
After three days I was inside the clinic. Nurse Ally allowed me to leave.
While walking I came across Kent holding a plastic and a brown box.
“Kent!” I called him.
He approached me with a smile.
“What’s in the brown box and the plastic you’re holding?”
“Secret.”
“Tell me.” I forced him.
“Okay. You know I can’t refuse you.”
“So, what’s in the brown box and the plastic that you’re holding?”
“This plastic is filled with vegetables and other ingredients for cooking soup.”
“Are you going to cook soup?”
“Yes.”
“Do you know how to cook souo?”
“What do you think of me, not knowing how to cook?”
“Slight.”
“What’s in the brown box?”
“Chicken.” He answered.
“Maybe it’s delicious if someone else cooks but if you do it might not be delicious.” I teased him.
“I’ll eat this and not you.”
“You won’t give me the soup you’re going to cook?”
“You said I’m not good at cooking so I won’t give it to you.”
“I’m just kidding you and you’re too serious.”
“Give me that or I’ll get mad at you.” I added.
“I’ll give you this in one condition.”
“What is the condition?”
“Help me to cook it and i’ll give you the soup. Deal?”
“Okay, deal.”
We go in here in the kitchen of the dorm.
“I’ll cut it.” I present.
“Be careful because you might get cut.”
I picked up the knife and started slicing the cabbage. While Kent cuts the chicken.
As I was cutting, I did not realize that my finger had been cut.
“Ah.” I said. So Kent approached me immediately.
“What’s wrong?” He asked.
I immediately hid my finger that was cut on my back so he couldn’t see.
“Nothing. I just saw a rat.”
“If you can fool others. I’m different from them because you can’t fool me.”
He took my hand that was behind my back.
“I really can’t hide anything from you.”
“I’ll just get you a first aid kit here.”
“Don’t. It’s just a small cut.”
“Even if it’s small, it should still be treated.”
He took the first aid kit and approached me.
“Gave me your hand.”
I gave my hand to him. He turned on the faucet and he put my hand in the water.
I just closed my eyes because of the little pain I felt.
“I thought it was just a small cut for you.”
“Yes. It’s just a small cut.”
“But why did you closed your eyes when i put your finger in the water?”
“Because.”
“Because what?”
“Just heal the cut on my finger so we can finish.” I divert the topic.
“You just can’t answer me.”
He took the cotton and filled it with alcohol. Then he gently placed it on my finger.
“Does it hurt?” He asked me.
“No.” I answered.
As the cotton with alcohol was placed on my finger he blew it so I could no longer feel the pain.
“Hailey.” A cold voice called my name.
“Demon, how did you get in?” I asked.
“I am the president of this university so even this dorm I have a key to enter.” He explained.
“Why is he holding your hand?” He asked and stared coldly at Kent.
“She was cut so I just put on first aid so she wouldn’t bleed.”
Kent took the piece of white cloth and was about to put it on my finger but Demon stopped him.
As fast as lightning, Demon is now in the middle of us and he is holding my hand.
“I’ll do this.” Demon says and takes the piece of white cloth from Kent.
He placed the cloth on my finger with a cut slowly.
“Why are there ingredients here?” Demon asked.
“We’ll cook some soup.”
“Then I’ll join you in cooking the soup.”
“Do you know how to cook?” Kent asked him.
“Yes.”
“Hailey, go to the chair and Kent and I will cook.”
“Okay.”
As Demon slices. Kent is already boiling the chicken in water. I was just watching them.
My attention went to Kent and our eyesight was met.
I came back to reality when Demon’s slice of carrots was suddenly intensified.
“Are you going to grind those carrots?” I asked and simply smile.
“Yes.” He said emphatically so I approached him.
“Are you jealous of Kent?” I whispered in his ear.
“I’m not jealous of him and why should I be jealous?”
“Because of your actions it’s obvious you’re jealous of him.”
“He’s not the man I’ll be jealous of.”
“Is that true?”
“What do you want me to say to make you believe me?”
“Nothing. But whatever you say I know you’re jealous of Kent.” I said and pouted.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“It’s better if you get back in the chair.” Demon says.
“Fine.”
I put my head on the table because I felt like I wanted to sleep.
“Hailey, wake up.” Kent wakes me up.
I slowly opened my eyes.
“Are you done cooking the soup?” I asked them.
“We’re done cooking so I woke you up.” Kent said.
I looked at the table and the soup was ready.
I smelled it first before I tasted it.
Demon and Kent looked at each other.
“What’s the taste?” Kent asked me.
“Is it delicious?” Demon asked.
“Not delicious.” There was a trace of frustration on their faces.
“It’s just not delicious because your soup is very delicious.” Their faces lit up because of what I said.
“Are you not joking?” They both asked.
“Do I look like I’m kidding?” I asked them back.
While we were eating our other friends arrived.
“The scent, too.” Agatha said.
“What did you cook?” Theo asked and approached us.
They all looked at what we were eating.
“You cooked soup but you didn’t invite us.” Ethan says.
“Just eat.” I said to them.
They took their plates except for Nadia.
“Nadia, aren’t you going to eat?” I asked her.
“I don’t want to eat anymore.”
“Why don’t you want to eat anymore? This soup is delicious and still hot so you should eat it.”
“I’m sorry, Hailey. But I really don’t feel like eating.”
“If that’s what you want I won’t force you to eat.”
“I’ll just go to my room first.”
“All right.”
“Why is Nadia like that?” Agatha asked.
“I think she’s just tired.” Ethan says.
Does Nadia have a problem that’s why she is like that? Or is she just really tired?
