Underestimated Son In Law

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Chapter 1 Everything Is Lost

On the wide street of the City of Darian, a crowd of people could be seen whispering at each other as they looked at the drama across the wide street near the prestigious hospital.

A rather gorgeous lady with a pair of bright green eyes, indicating she's a foreigner.

At that moment, she was shouting at a fat man whose weight could easily be compared to three adult men, and to add insult to injury, he was wearing worn-out clothes, making the gossiping crowd throw disgusting and judging eyes at him.

Suddenly, a crisp sound echoed, as fatty Sett was slapped across the face by the gorgeous lady.

"I've had enough with you, Sett!" She pointed at his nose. Her face brewed in rage.

"The marriage was a mistake! If I had known that you were useless and poor..... What kind of future could you give me? I doubt you can accomplish anything in life. You're just a spineless coward who can't talk back to his family even after being bullied for so long! Are you even a man?" She screamed at his face, then bit her lips in anger.

"Do you expect me to be with a worthless man like you? Dream on! You are not worthy of me, Sett! You don't even know how to take care of yourself; you're nothing!" She vehemently said.

At this point, however, Sett, who was long numb, was not listening to his wife's rants, as his thoughts were drawn away from what happened a few hours ago.

At that time, he was about to head to a nearby grocery to apply for a part job after being kicked out of the mall as a cleaner, not knowing that a terrible accident had ensued, as he received a call from the police station informing him of his parents' accident.

The shock and fear of what happened to his parents propelled him to rush toward the hospital's location, as he felt his beating heart bursting with anxiety.

He didn't even pay the cab driver, as he was panicking, and when he reached the medical wards and saw his parents' condition, he nearly fainted.

Even now, as he blankly looked at his wife in front of him, the words of the nurse were still echoing in his head.

"Your parents are in a coma; they need immediate surgery. Please understand that we will need you to deposit half of the amount before we can proceed with the surgery."

What the doctor said at that time was still fresh in his head. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

Just then, his thoughts were abruptly pulled back as he heard his wife, Sheila Laurel, screaming right at him.

"Bastard, you're ignoring me? You!" Sheila was breathing hard in resentment. Her finger was poking at Fatty Sett's forehead. How furious she was when she saw Fatty Sett bowing his head without saying anything, like a pushover.

"Sorry, my wife." Sett looked away. He didn't dare look his wife in the eye as he felt ashamed of himself.

Although their marriage was only to consolidate the relationship between the two distinguished families, it was only in name, and he wasn't allowed to touch her. Their relationship was not at all harmonious.

The Laurel family has recently grown in strength, and they will soon be regarded as a first-rate family in Darian City. Originally, the situation wasn't like this.

After all, his father, Charles Crossword, came from the Crossword Family, a relatively powerful organization.

His father was next in line to inherit his grandfather, Francisco Crossword's, position as the head of the family, and even if the Laurel family would not honor the marriage after they became a first-rate family, they would still consider his face.

But who would've thought that his grandfather would instead strip his father's privilege a year ago?

Now the Laurel family has solidified its intent to not honor the marriage.

Either way, he was forced to quit college and look for a job to help support his parents, who couldn't get a job even when they begged other companies and could only pick trash on the toad side.

It was a disgrace to their name. Everyone mocked them. Also, since his younger sibling needed to attend high school, he needed to earn money.

As time went on, he became a useless fat guy who everyone made fun of.

At the age of twenty, the year he was supposed to become an intern with a bright future ahead of him, fate decided to play a joke on him.

Now, all he could see was his already bleak future, and on top of that, his parents had an accident that nearly killed them. It was really ironic for the once-young master of the Crossword family to end up like this.

At this moment, he raises his head to look at his once beautiful, very gentle, and meek wife's face. But now? He was being splashed with venomous words.

He let out a small chuckle, angering his wife further, but he was too numb to bother and listen to her ranting. All he could do was continue saying sorry since he still loved her dearly. He couldn't bring himself to hate her.

"Don't ever call me your wife! This is all the money I can lend to you.... I felt disgusted hearing it from you! And you dare contact me." She took out a couple of bucks from her Louis Vuitton leather maiden bag. As she threw money on Sett's worn-out shirt, the dollars scattered as it slowly fell to the ground.

"Hmmph!" She felt repulsed when standing beside him. She turned her heels away as she pressed her luxurious Bugatti's remote control.

As the car's door opened, she drove away without looking back while the crowd's fiery eyes gazed at her million-dollar Buggati, leaving behind Sett with a handprint across his chubby face.

The public gossiping people's voices started to amplify. Their judgemental eyes prickled Sett's skin.

Some were even taking pictures and recording what had arisen.

"That fatty was dumped by that pretty lady. If I were a girl, I'd do the same, because a pig should never dream of eating swan meat." A man in the crowd smirked.
