Chapter 1937
Melina froze, her breath catching in her throat.
She ducked back into the shadows, her heart pounding as she Listened.
The footsteps were hurried, purposeful, but they gradually faded.
Relief washed over her, but she knew she couldn’t waste any more time.
She needed to get out.
She made her way downstairs, moving as swiftly and silently as possible.
But just as she reached the living room, a loud clap echoed through the room.
The lights blazed on, flooding the space with harsh brightness.
“Ah!” Melina gasped, instinctively shielding her eyes from the sudden glare.
When she finally managed to open them, she clearly saw the people sitting in the living room.
Hannah was sitting calmly on the sofa, Dotson standing like a sentinel beside her.
The room was eerily quiet, with only the three of them present-Hannah, Dotson, and Melina, now standing in the center of the living room, her heart hammering in her chest.

“Why are you here?”
Melina’s voice cracked as she shouted at Hannah, panic flashing in her eyes.
“I knew it! You’re the one who sent people to kill me, aren’t you?”
The more she thought about it, the more convinced she became.
Hannah had always despised her-of course, it had to be her.
Dotson, standing silently beside Hannah, frowned, his gaze filled with disgust at Melina’s accusation.
Melina’s eyes darted around the room, desperately searching for an escape.
“Hannah, don’t you know it’s illegal to confine a person even abroad? You should at least know this!” she desperately screamed, still clinging to the mistaken belief that she was abroad.
Hannah, resting her cheek on her hand, smiled calmly, not bothering to correct her.
The amusement in her eyes was unmistakable.
“Exactly.
Since we’re abroad, no one would bat an eyelash if I were to kill you,” Hannah said, her tone chillingly casual.
“I can bury you right here.
Who would ever trace it back to me?”
The seriousness in Hannah’s voice made Melina tremble.
“You.
.
You can’t kill me.
I’m the heiress of the Glyn family.
If I go missing, you’ll be the prime suspect.
”
Hannah raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on her lips.
“The heiress of the Glyn family?” she echoed, her voice laced with mockery.
“Your parents are barely holding on in Cadilind.
Do you really think they’d choose your life over a hefty payout if you suddenly vanished?”
As Melina’s face grew paler, Hannah’s smile only deepened.
“Besides,” she continued, her voice soft but deadly, “Tyshawn has already spilled everything to the police-how you colluded with him.
If you return to Cadilind, you’ll be facing a lengthy prison sentence.
Tell me, what are the chances your family will lift a finger to save you?”
This time, Melina escaped to another country, directly involving her parents in her plots.
If they chose to rescue her, it meant she was still valuable to them.
Reflecting on this, Melina’s gaze shifted to Hannah.Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
“If you intended to kill me, you wouldn’t have waited for me to regain consciousness.
Since I’m still here, that means you want something.
So, tell me, what do you need from me?”
Hannah smirked.
“You are somewhat clever, but not remarkably so.
Maybe I just wanted to see your reaction upon waking.
You know, to watch you squirm and plead.
”
Melina glanced toward the exit, her body trembling slightly.
“Hannah, you’re not that petty.
Now that Tyshawn is caught, Brodie doesn’t stand a chance against you.
”
