Chapter 38
While at Reid Incorporated, Clark looked at a project blueprint in his office. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
"Mr. Reid, our biggest competitor for East Platinum is Freeman Incorporated," Jeremy said worriedly. "They're already done with the negotiation of the land they bid. It will be difficult for us to recover from this."
"Nothing's easy in the business world, Jeremy," Clark said.
Jeremy was deep in thought. The opponent wasn't an average Joe to be able to compete in a bid with a large corporation like Reid Incorporated. After all, an insignificant foe would not dare to face Clark, to begin with.
Suddenly, Clark's eyes widened as he stared at the monitor.
"What's wrong, Mr. Reid? Did something happen to the blueprint?" Jeremy asked. He was concerned for the people in the engineering department.
Clark turned the monitor toward Jeremy. What Jeremy saw jolted him.
It was an email from an anonymous sender sent half a minute ago. It was attached with a photo and nothing else.
Jeremy's face turned pale. "Mr. Reid, this photo…"
The photo depicted Judy and Dominic in a doctor's office. He was holding and inspecting carefully at her hand.
Clark gazed at the holding hands in the photo and ordered coldly, "Check the IP address. Find out who sent this."
"Y-Yes, sir," Jeremy shivered as he replied.
Clark tapped his finger on the table with his eyes fixated on the photo. His eyes widened again when he remembered the things that had happened recently.
It appeared that the Blake family wasn't content with the outcome they got in return for marrying Judy to the Reid family, despite they were the ones substituting it with a mute.
…
Judy felt uneasy as she had a bad feeling the whole afternoon. She had been in the hospital the entire day and met Dominic, who just finished his work. He kindly let her tag along for their way home.
As they arrived at the Reid's manor, Sally called for them. She looked at Judy disgustingly and said, "Dom, why was she with you?"
Judy took out her notebook and was about to write something, but Dominic quickly explained, "I just finished work and saw her on the way. So I let her tag along to return home.
"It's just a small favor. We're family anyway, right?"
"What family? We have nothing to do with her." Sally gave Judy a side-eye. "She won't be staying with us for any longer. I—"
"Mom." Dominic stopped Sally. His face turned sour.
Seeing Dominic's expression, Sally bottled up what she was about to say. "Alright, alright. I'm not going to say anything. Since you came back early today, let's have a chat."
While considering Judy's place in the Reid family, Dominic nodded and said, "Judy, why don't you go get some rest? I'll let you know when dinner is ready."
Judy looked at Sally with hesitation.
"It's okay, you can leave." Sally shooed her away. She only wanted to talk with her son and had no time to deal with Judy.
Judy felt relieved and went upstairs.
Sally's repulsive look disappeared when she heard the sound of the door closing upstairs. She peeled an apple for Dominic and asked, "Dom, I heard Jenna started interning at your hospital, is she?"
"Yeah," Dominic replied while looking distracted.
