Chapter 485 Saeville's Unyielding Heart
In Saeville, at the East Saeville Nursing Home, the top-floor ward was decorated warmly and elegantly, resembling a cozy home.
Strong sunlight poured in through the window, casting a warm glow on the hospital bed.
Nathaniel's surgery had been successful, but the attending doctor had warned him that another operation could be fatal if he didn't take care of himself.
He focused intently on his laptop, finding solace in endless work to escape the pain caused by Frey.
Beside his laptop, his mobile phone lay on the table, turned on 24 hours a day. He waited anxiously for Frey to call, but there had been no news.
Recently, luck hadn't been on his side.
During the operation, Koen had kept his mobile phone for safekeeping.
However, due to a mishap, a young nurse accidentally dropped the phone into a disinfectant bucket.
Koen, in a panic, compensated the nurse out of his pocket and fired the cleaner.
Despite this, Nathaniel had scolded Koen severely, completely forgetting about Frey's possible calls.
Koen had prepared a new phone for Nathaniel, which now lay quietly on the table without any activity.
Days had passed without a single call from Frey. Despite their troubled relationship, he felt she should at least fulfill her basic obligations as his wife.
He wondered bitterly if Frey was enjoying her time with Sawyer in Pontenero. His angular face was etched with cold, gray tones as he stared at the silent phone.
Who did she think he was? He had never loved anyone so humbly. What more did she want from him?noveldrama
Memories of Pontenero haunted him. When she gave him the cold shoulder, he had only made Sawyer kneel before him.
He had restrained himself from going further, yet she still refused to communicate with him.
The pain in his chest intensified as his anger grew. The nurse who came to change his dressing was too frightened to approach him, seeing the ferocious expression on his face.
Koen eventually helped with the wound care.
"Isn't Ms. Frey back yet?" Nathaniel finally asked, trying to control his anger. Regardless of everything, he needed to bring her back to Saeville.
Koen, now dreading any mention of Frey, replied cautiously, "No, Ms. Frey is still in Pontenero."
Nathaniel clenched his fists tightly. "Why hasn't she come back?"
Koen hesitated, "Maybe she's still angry after your argument. Give it a few more days."
"Has that bastard Sawyer come back?" Nathaniel's voice was dark and cold.
Koen wished he could switch places with Hudson and Luna.
Dealing with Frey was more exhausting than managing Technologent Group. "Sawyer hasn't returned, but Hudson has been
Ponteen ne
causing him trouble in Pontenero.
He's not having an easy either."
Nathaniel's expression remained unchanged. The problem was no longer just Sawyer but Frey. Once a woman's heart was lost, no effort could bring her back.
Frustrated, Nathaniel waved Koen away. Koen, feeling relieved, quickly left the ward with the young nurse.
Nathaniel stared at the phone on the table for a few moments, then picked it up and dialed Frey's number.
As he hovered over the call button, he hesitated. If Frey had made any other mistake, he would have forgiven her, but her cheating on him with Sawyer was intolerable.
It was she who had connected with Sawyer first. Why couldn't she allow him to speak a word about it? He would have handed her a gun and let her decide his fate. But what was this now?
It was as if he were the one who had done wrong. She had never been an
unreasonable woman. Why did she hate him so much?
What do you think?
