The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 488 Old Friends Meet

"Ow!" The first to cry out was a man. Michael looked up and saw the guy he had arranged to meet finally show up.

It was Michael's other good friend, not quite as close as Bryan, but still a good friend.

He was Patrick Wright, a bona fide playboy.

He didn't have much of a serious job, usually just mediating conflicts and resolving various disputes.

Michael had called him today because of Candice.

Patrick had met Candice abroad and had fallen for her at first sight. However, his family situation was dire at the time, so he never expressed his feelings.

Now that he had just returned home after finishing his business, Michael had called him to meet Candice right after he had adjusted to the time difference.

What did this mean?

It meant they were destined to be connected!

Coincidentally, they bumped into each other right away.

Patrick was wearing a deep green, custom-embroidered floral suit, blending perfectly

with the surrounding greenery.

Candice, already in a bad mood, didn't notice someone suddenly appearing.

She was already angry, and now she was even angrier.

"Damn it! Can't you see someone walking out? You men are all..."

Before Candice could finish venting, Patrick, as if he hadn't heard her complaints, interrupted with a cheerful tone. "Candice? Is that really you?"

Candice was stunned by his audacity. How could someone ignore her complaints like that?

Taking a closer look, Candice found Patrick somewhat familiar.

Before she could ask, Patrick waved to someone behind her. Candice turned to see Michael, who had somehow moved behind her, with a complicated smile on his face. "This is Patrick. You met us abroad before," Michael said, his expression becoming serious as he looked at Candice.

He explained, "Candice, I didn't have you stay in the car just to observe Emily. The main reason is..."

"I wanted to surprise you! Candice, it's been so long since we last met. I thought you might have forgotten about me, so I wanted to give you a little surprise. But it seems like the surprise didn't work out, and it turned into a bit of a shock," Patrick quickly chimed in, seeing the misunderstanding between the two.

"Wait, wait! Something's off here. What's this about observing Emily? What's going on with her?" Patrick had no idea that Michael and Emily had divorced.

Michael's expression changed again, looking very unpleasant.

Candice also sensed something was wrong.

Since it was just a ploy to buy time, she wasn't the type to make a fuss over it.

So she didn't argue with Michael, just vented her frustration at the two of them.

"You two are good friends? Doesn't seem like it. If you're such good friends, how come you don't know each other's situations?"

Hearing this, Michael and Patrick exchanged awkward glances.

Candice, feeling even more irritated after being dragged into this drama, had no mood

to have dinner with Patrick and Michael.

So she excused herself and went home.

It was clear she wasn't interested in Patrick.

But Patrick blamed Michael for it.noveldrama

If it weren't for Michael's coldness, Candice wouldn't have wanted to go home; she would have been all over Michael by now.

Michael sat in the back seat, listening to Patrick's continuous complaints. Even the driver in the front was listening with interest.

After a while, Michael finally spoke. "Are you done yet?"

Seeing Michael's intimidating expression, Patrick decided to stop.

He swallowed and asked Michael, "Where are we going now?"

Patrick rubbed his hands together, looking expectant.

Michael replied coldly, "The bar."

Another bar? How boring.

Patrick let out a long sigh and then said with some resignation, "I went to bars every day abroad, and now we're going again. Can't we go somewhere else, just to..."

Once again, before Patrick could finish, Michael cut him off, "Just to keep me company for a drink."

Michael's commanding tone left Patrick no room to argue.

So, they obediently went to their usual bar.

Patrick, very familiar with the place, immediately ordered drinks and successfully got Michael drunk after a few rounds.

Under the dim lights, Michael's charm and handsome face were hard for the surrounding women to ignore.

But he was completely indifferent to it.

Patrick, on the other hand, was like a peacock, constantly showing off to the women.

The women, seeing Patrick's stylish appearance, figured he must be wealthy.

So they shifted their attention to him.

One willing to flirt, the other willing to play along, it was a mutual exchange.

After a while, Michael couldn't stand it anymore. "Patrick."

Seeing Patrick still leaning against the bar, flirting with the women, Michael finally lost his patience and pulled him over with all his strength. "Patrick!"

"Michael, what are you doing? I'm busy here."

Hearing this, Michael gave Patrick a disdainful look. "You still haven't changed your bad habits. Patrick, didn't you tell me that if I helped you meet Candice, you'd turn over a new leaf and stop flirting around?"

Patrick nodded seriously, then took a sip of his drink. "I did say that!" Michael, seeing Patrick's earnest expression, let out a sarcastic laugh and continued, not to Patrick, but to the drink in front of him, almost as if talking to himself. "Sure enough, men are all the same, unreliable."

Then he muttered softly, "I shouldn't have made any promises, and I shouldn't have hurt Emily. I'm unreliable. She shouldn't have trusted me. She shouldn't have..."

Patrick couldn't stand it anymore. He pushed the drinks aside and called out to Michael. "Hey, hey, hey, Michael, can you stop embarrassing men? It's just a divorce. Is Emily really that great? Worth all this?

"There are plenty of women in the world. Lose one, find another. With our conditions, do we need to worry? Just tell me, what kind of woman do you like in this bar? What kind of personality? I'll find one for you!"
