The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 484 Jealousy

"Stop being so full of yourself, Michael. How can you be so shameless?"

Emily's aggression was off the charts this morning, even more intense than last night. Honestly, Michael didn't expect Emily to react this way.

But it was clear she cared about him. Why else would she have prepared a hot towel and warm water for him? And there was something simmering in the kitchen... Did she really think he couldn't smell it?

Seeing Michael glance meaningfully toward the kitchen, Emily became even more flustered.

She took a deep breath and quickly explained, "Don't flatter yourself. That's for Abigail."

Michael raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. "Really? Abigail drank too much too?"

Emily was momentarily stunned, about to stammer out an explanation, but Michael's expression suddenly turned serious.

He lay back down on the couch, seemingly savoring the warmth, unwilling to leave even for a moment.

"Back at the Smith Mansion, every time I drank too much, you'd make me hangover soup. If Lexine or the others made it, you wouldn't trust it, right?" Michael paused for several seconds, looking at Emily.

His gaze grew deeper. "I've gotten used to this smell. I know it means you care about me. You don't need to lie."

The atmosphere grew tense again.

Emily really hated this feeling.noveldrama

Every time she resolved to separate from Michael, he would say something touching, making her heart soften instantly.

With no other choice, Emily forced herself to suppress the fluttering in her heart, took a deep breath, and spoke coldly.

"Michael, I've said everything I needed to say. If you won't listen, there's nothing I can do. Instead of going crazy here with me, you should focus on your company, on your own life. Don't let your scandals become the talk of the town, making everyone aware of your constant drama."

Growing more indignant, Emily stood up.

She walked away, holding her belly, even turning her back to Michael, unwilling to look at him.

Perhaps sensing Emily's genuine resolve, Michael was momentarily stunned before forcing himself to stand.

Honestly, he hadn't intended to pass out at her doorstep last night.

He had simply drunk too much, his mind foggy, instinctively seeking the familiar warmth of her home.

Emily was the warmest refuge he could find.

It was strange. Michael didn't understand why, despite Emily pushing him away time

and again, he still wanted to come to her, as if under some spell.

"Emily, what are you talking about? What scandal? Why are you being so cryptic?" Michael's voice was low, with a barely noticeable tremor.

"Was I not clear enough?" Emily retorted without hesitation.

She couldn't tell that it wasn't anger but jealousy.

She was just upset. After that phone call, her thoughts had completely shifted.

"Michael, I've been very clear about our situation. We're divorced. Yet you keep

messing up my life. And this is before the baby is born. What happens when the baby

is here? Are you gonna cling to us every day? What does our divorce even mean then?"

"And..." Emily suddenly stopped, unable to continue.

She couldn't bring herself to mention what had just happened, not wanting to seem overly concerned.

That woman would be here soon.

Just a little longer, just a little more patience, and someone would come for him.

Sure enough, just as Emily was was heading to the kitchen, she heard a noise at the door. She quickly walked over to open it.

Her heart pounded, as if it would leap out of her chest.

Emily was incredibly curious.

What kind of girl was she?

Was she more like her?

Or more like Sophia?

She must be different from herself, probably a lively, cheerful girl, full of youthful energy.

Maybe that's exactly what Michael needed right now.

The thought was torturous for Emily.

"Michael, I'm here."

The door opened slowly, and a sweet, soft voice stopped abruptly upon seeing Emily. The woman clearly hadn't expected the person opening the door to be a pregnant woman, and the look in Emily's eyes seemed filled with hostility.

Candice's heart sank. She remembered what Archibald had said at the restaurant.

Could this woman be Michael's ex-wife?

Candice double-checked the address. Michael had given her this address.

But why was his ex-wife here?

Could it be, as Archibald suggested, that there were still unresolved ties between them?

Regardless, Candice felt she needed to see Michael in person to get to the bottom of this.

Meanwhile, Emily was scrutinizing the girl in front of her.

Just as she had imagined. The girl was young, beautiful, with a great figure and smooth skin. Most importantly, she was dressed in designer clothes, exuding confidence and superiority, much like Michael.

This girl was neither like her nor like Sophia. But she was the perfect match for Michael.

Candice, seeing Emily's silent scrutiny, decided to ask where Michael was. But before she could, Michael himself walked up.

"Who's here?" he asked.

A strong smell of alcohol accompanied him, making Candice wrinkle her nose. But seeing Michael in person, she couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement.

"Hi! Michael! I'm Candice. I texted you earlier!"

Candice? Texted?

Michael frowned, clearly surprised by the unexpected visit.

But he quickly realized his phone wasn't on him. Emily must have sent the message

while he was asleep.

So, Emily had called Candice over.

Michael recalled Emily's earlier words: "Don't let your scandals become the talk of the town."

So Emily had misunderstood him again?

No wonder she was so angry.

There was probably some jealousy mixed in too.

With a sigh, Michael looked at Emily with a gentle gaze, trying to ease the awkward

tension.

Emily felt his intense gaze on her.

She turned to face him, meeting his eyes. ;"What are you looking at? Hurry up and take

your clothes and leave. Take care of your guest!"

With that, Emily turned to leave, but Michael grabbed her wrist.
