The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 164 Causing Trouble

Yasmin kept calling Allison, but she never picked up. Frustrated, Yasmin decided to track down Mia instead. "Mia, can you take me to see Allison?" Yasmin asked.

Mia raised an eyebrow, clearly suspicious.

Yasmin wanting to see Allison? That couldn't be good. Mia might be straightforward, but she wasn't dumb.

"Why should I take you to see Allison? What's your deal with her? Who do you think you are?" Mia shot back, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Yasmin swallowed her anger and put on a sad face. "Mia, you've got it all wrong. I just want to talk to Allison about the competition. She hasn't been at school, and as her sister, I'm worried. Even though she's engaged to your uncle, it's just a verbal thing. It's not right for her to stay at the Carter Manor now."

Mia knew Yasmin was up to no good. As soon as Yasmin started talking, whispers spread around them.

"Is it true Allison's engaged to Mia's uncle? Did she break up a family?"

"She must have. Isn't Allison a bit young to be so eager to get involved with an older guy? How shameless!"

"An old guy? Well, he's a rich old guy. Allison's really something!"

Allison's engagement had the whole town buzzing. Most people didn't know her, and those who did thought it was crazy for an 18-year-old high schooler to be engaged. Even the school was having a hard time dealing with it.

Mia could handle people talking trash about her, but she wouldn't let anyone badmouth Allison.

She marched up to Yasmin and shoved her to the ground. "Yasmin, are you nuts? How dare you call yourself Allison's sister? You're just an illegitimate child!"

Mia had overheard Victor and Liliana talking about Allison's situation, which made her even more protective. Plus, Allison's recent injury, thanks to Blair, had Mia fuming.

"Illegitimate child? Mia, stop making stuff up!" Some of Yasmin's friends tried to defend her.

Mia glared at Yasmin. "Yasmin, you know I'm not making this up! You took Allison's place and trashed her name over and over! Allison's skills are well-known. She's the best, whether in the Bennett family or the Carter family. Can any of you beat her academically? No, right?"

Mia sneered. "Allison's on medical leave. Anyone with a shred of decency knows not to bother a patient. Yasmin, you want to go to the Carter Manor? Let me spell it out: the Carter family doesn't want you. Besides Allison, the Carter family doesn't want anyone from the Bennett family!"

Mia strutted away. As the bell rang, she headed to the school gate where Hunter was waiting. It was Friday, and they had plans to hit up Kismet for a late-night snack.

"Mia, over here!" Hunter called out, waving.

Mia sprinted over. "Hunter, I'm here! Let's go. I don't want to miss out on the food!"

After the renovation of Serenity Manor, the entrance looked way more impressive. Thanks to Allison, Kismet's restaurant next door had expanded into a 2,000-square-foot restaurant. It served lunch and dinner, so even at 10 PM, it was still hopping.

Yasmin, still fuming from her run-in with Mia, decided to follow them. She hopped in a taxi to keep a low profile.

She trailed them into an alley that seemed oddly familiar. When she reached the Ellis family's restaurant, she realized it was Serenity Manor, the place left by Valencia.

The restaurant was packed, with people waiting in line.

Yasmin slipped inside and spotted Kismet and Xavier, who she recognized. "Kismet, Xavier, hello!"

Kismet and Xavier, busy as ever, were surprised to see Yasmin.

They should've called her Ms. Bennett, but knowing her background, they weren't exactly fond of her.

"Kismet, you've got a good memory. I was just passing by and saw how much this place has improved. Looks like you've done a lot behind Allison's back," Yasmin said, her voice dripping with jealousy.

Seeing the bustling business, Yasmin was green with envy. This prime spot, this huge Serenity Manor, was worth a fortune, and it all went to Allison. Yasmin thought it was totally unfair.

"Behind Ms. Bennett's back? Yasmin, what are you getting at? This is all Ms. Bennett's property. What would I have to hide from her?" Kismet shot back, making Yasmin even angrier. "Her property? This was left by my grandmother, so it should belong to my father. Why should Allison have it? She's just a thief!" Yasmin snapped.

Kismet's face darkened, and Xavier's expression turned icy.

With so many customers around, they couldn't argue with Yasmin, so Xavier sent Kismet to the kitchen to avoid more drama.

"Yasmin, this is the Bishop family's property, not the Bennett family's. Valencia left Serenity Manor to Ms. Bennett, making her the rightful owner. Your father has no claim to it," Xavier stated firmly. Yasmin felt slighted. She thought they were just sucking up to Allison to take over the business. She couldn't stand that everything good went to Allison.

"Impossible! My father is my grandmother's son. How can he have no claim?" Yasmin argued, clueless about Preston's true lineage.

"Zayne, come here!" Xavier, fed up with the argument, called his son, Zayne Ellis.novelbin

"Dad, I'm busy. What do you need?" Zayne asked, walking over.

Xavier nodded towards Yasmin. "Drive Yasmin home. We're too busy to deal with her right now."
