Chapter 75. F*ck

Noah POV

After Brent left, his words echoed in my mind like a oken record. I can’t seem to shake this irrational fear that crept into my heart, creating a whirlwind of emotions I could not explain.

But one thing is for sure. I will do anything in my power to get my wife and kids back.

I love them and will do anything to get them back.

Feeling unexplained agitation, I called Marcus. He picked up immediately.

“I would hazard a guess that this is about the planned merger with Bennett Group of Companies. News travels fast in Redwood.” Marcus stated suavely.

“I am not trying to play games with you Ford,” I warned.

“Neither do I.” He replied in a harsh tone.

“Did Briana know that you are selling her off to another billionaire? I would like to know what she thinks about that. Briana’s her own woman. She was able to get back on her feet despite the storms that life dealt her with.”

Marcus snickered.

“It’s not life. It’s just you. Remember what you did?” Marcus said, making me falter emotionally.

I thought I had him figured out. It seems like I underestimated this man and his cunning.

“Do you think we will trust you again after what you did to our sister? We only agreed to let you in the children’s lives because they needed a father, but we didn’t bargain that you also wanted to get their mother to your side. You had your chance, Hunter. You blew it. Let my sister go, and concentrate on being a father to your children.”

That was quite a blow!

I shook my head as the realization set in. I not only have to fight Briana for her, but I also have to fight her brothers for her.

What tough luck this is.

“You are warning me off of her, but aren’t you forgetting

own woman. Should you let her decide on this matter because this is, after all, her life?”

Marcus snorted.

“Are you threatened, Hunter?”

I decided to go all–out honest with him.

“Yes. I am not only threatened. I was afraid of losing them, but I still believe everything depends on Briana. Let this be her choice.” I told him and hung up.

The talk with Marcus disturbed me in unimaginable ways possible.

My fear meter is high, and I could not do anything to alleviate it.

I went to my car, opened the glove compartment, and rummaged through it. This is where I stash my cigarettes for emergencies like that.

1 lighted a cigarette and puffed. Smoke billowed on my face.

When I started to feel calm, I threw the cigarette butt on the ground and stamped it with my foot.

Then, I walked back inside my house.

It was lonely inside. As lonely as the last five years.

I missed my kids. I just got to know them, but I still miss them. I also miss their mom.

I was about to doze off when my phone started ringing incessantly. I looked at the

time and the caller ID.

It’s the wee hours of the morning, and I haven’t slept a wink.

I have half a mind not to answer it because I am tired, Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

Everything in my life had fallen apart, starting with my Uncle Matt.

The legal process is working, but even when I was getting justice for the senseless loss of my parents, I was still reeling from shock. All those wasted years. The misplaced trust.

It kept nagging at me.

I chose blood because it is thicker than water, never realizing it would be my own blood that would betray me in the cruelest way possible.

Even when I try to act arrogant in front of Briana, the glaring truth remains the same. It would take years, even a lifetime, to erase the pain I inflicted on her.

But I have to start somewhere. I have to act now, or I might lose her forever,

The phone kept ringing. I took my phone to press the answer button.

“What!” I barked impatiently at Brent.

“Whoa! Don’t shoot me! This is urgent!” The worry in his tone jarred me into alertness.

“Briana…” Her name was off my lips after I bolted out of my reclining position on the sofa and out the door.

I was panting when Brent’s voice stopped me.

I looked around. It was still dark outside.

My eyes gravitated to the house across the street. It’s silent there and pitch black.

“Calm down.” I heard Brent’s voice on the other line. I was waiting for his belly- aching laugh, but it was surprisingly absent.

“You can’t tell me to calm the f*ck down when I was worried! Don’t do that again!” I snarled on the phone.

“Sorry, but this is serious. Britney has gone to the press, claiming Briana destroyed your relationship.”

“F*ck!” My fists clenched.
