Winston opened his eyes and swallowed, breathing heavily. He said, “…”
“Win…” Joanna’s voice rang out by the door.
Millie pushed Winston away on reflex. She stood up straight and stared at the door.
Joanna bit her lip while holding a meal container. She glared at Millie, animosity flashing across her
eyes
She took two steps back and said tonelessly, “Don’t misunderstand, Joanna. Winston thought that ! was you.”
Take a guess whether she believed Millie’s words.
Joanna looked at Winston lying on the bed and smiled. “Winston, have I come at a bad time?” she
asked.
Millie didn’t want to trouble herself, so she lied, “His gastric problems flared up. I ran into him coincidentally and brought him over.”
Joanna stared at them in frustration. She knew Millie was lying to her. NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
She came over without anyone telling her to do so. Wouldn’t Millie know why she came?
She had someone keeping an eye on Winston at all times!
The first person Winston sought out after getting drunk wasn’t her. Rather, he headed to Caldwell Villa. What did he mean by that?
Joanna was so angry she felt like she was going to implode.
However, she couldn’t expose their animosity into the open air. She couldn’t let Winston know that she had someone stalking him.
Joanna smiled and said, “Thank you, Mills. Win had always been like that. His stomach isn’t good, yet he doesn’t take care of himself. Thank goodness he ran into you.”
Millie shook her head and glanced at Winston. She didn’t say anything else and walked away.
Winston’s gaze darkened. He seemed to deflate within seconds.
When Millie walked past Joanna, she said, “Mills, let me walk you out.”
Joanna put her meal container on the bedside table and followed her out.
Millie and Joanna walked in silence until they went down the steps of the emergency ward.
Then, Joanna said, “I know Win went to look for you.”
Millie looked at her, waiting for her to continue.
Joanna stared at Millle expressionlessly and said sharply, “Millie, since you guys have gotten a divorce, stop clinging to him. If you continue latching onto him, it’ll only make you look cheap.”
Millie pursed her lips and asked calmly, “What are you scared of?”
Was Joanna scared that she wouldn’t divorce Winston? Or was she scared that Winston would fall in
love with her?
Joanna raised her chin and said firmly, “I’m not scared of anything because Win said he would marry me! However, when it comes to people dreaming about what doesn’t belong to them, I think I have the right to remind her that Win is mine!”
Millie looked at her disdainfully and smirked.
Joanna opened and closed her mouth. She was fuming. What did that smile mean?
“Millie, don’t force me to take action against you!” Her expression turned cold, and she left.
Take action? Millie looked forward to it.
“I’m telling you, Selma’s birthday is coming up. I’ve found the Snowdrop! This time, I’ll make the Greer family accept me!”
Millie stopped walking. She turned and looked back at Joanna. She narrowed her eyes and asked,” You’ve gotten the Snowdrop?”
“Yeah!” Joanna smiled and lifted her chin. What? Millie was scared upon hearing about the Snowdrop, wasn’t she?
As long as she made Selma happy, why would she need to worry about entering the Greer family?
As to Millie, she was fated to be abandoned like rubbish.
Millie smiled. “I’ll be looking forward to it,” she said. Her words sounded like a challenge.
With Millie walked away without so much of a backward glance.
Joanna bit her lip. Was that all the reaction she was going to get from Millie upon hearing that she possessed the Snowdrop? That calm?
Joanna frowned and stomped her foot angrily.
Millie didn’t go home. Rather, she headed straight to M Base.
After scanning her face at the entrance, a robot welcomed her. A mechanical voice rang out, Welcome home, M.”
Millie patted the robot’s head.
The door to the lounge opened. Marvin walked out. His expression was one of surprise when he asked, “Boss, why are you here?”
