Serenity and Zachary York

Chapter 3389

Patrick said with relief, "I know, Serenity has a good husband. She married into the York family, so there's no need to worry about her. Things will only get better for her from here on out. Old Mrs. York is a smart cookie.

"But I heard Liberty's divorced and I know she has custody of her son. Before I came here, I did ask some men to look into her ex-husband. The Browns were simply too shameless and outrageous.

"It's just that Liberty's still so young. She's only in her early thirties and will still have to find someone willing to marry into the family. This is the way it has always been done."Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

Patrick understood right away that Audrey did not intend to fight for the position of the matriarch herself when Audrey arranged for Liberty to go to Jensburg. Serenity was the Yorks' eldest daughter-in-law. She was not suitable to take the position, and even if Zachary was willing to marry into the Fisher family, the Fishers would be too embarrassed to let him do so.

Meanwhile, Elisa was not married yet and Remy had previously said he was willing to marry into the Stone family to assuage their worries. The Johnsons were very open-minded and Patrick knew this well as they were basically Doc's in-laws. Lilian was doing very well after marrying into the Johnson family. Patrick had not attended their wedding but still paid attention to how they were doing after.

Audrey said, “Liberty's dating Duncan Lewis. The Lewises have four sons. Once Liberty takes over, I don't think they would mind if he married into the family."

Patrick turned to look at Audrey and advised, "It's better to check what they think in advance for this kind of thing. Just look at Belinda's husband. Even outsiders like us can tell a thing or two of what he's thinking after decades of marrying into the family. And the Lewises are a distinguished family too. Actually, they might even be wealthier than the Fishers are.

"Will Duncan Lewis's parents agree? If Liberty and Duncan get married, their daughters will have to take the Fisher surname, and Liberty herself will have to change her surname. Would they be willing to do that? Missy Drey, I know you want to groom Ms. Liberty as the next head, but you have to ask what they think and if they're really willing to do it.

"The Fisher family head might hold a lot of power, but there are a lot of restraints too. Once she takes over, she'll be trapped by her circumstances in a lot of ways."

After a moment of silence, Audrey conceded, "call Liberty later and have a good chat with her. I don't think changing her surname will be a problem. As for Duncan's side of things, I'll ask Corey to meet me for coffee tomorrow." Content belongs

Audrey represented Liberty's elders, while Corey represented Duncan's elders. It would be good to have a chat to avoid any potential discord when the time came.

Duncan's mother, Corey, was

unwilling to accept Liberty at first. If

Duncan had not insisted and even ended up in a car accident, and was now stiff reliant on a wheelchair because of an argument about it, Carey would never have accepted Liberty.

From a mother's viewpoint, Audrey could understand Corey. Still, as Liberty's aunt, she selfishly wanted her niece to be happy and did not want Corey to try and break the couple up again.

Patrick hummed in acknowledgment.

The downstairs was filled with people chatting and laughing, painting such a vibrant scene.

Serenity and the rest had already et

familiarized themselves with Sugar. She had asked Sugar what her real name was, but Sugar had not answered. Wisely, they did not ask further.

Everyone had their secrets. Sugar probably did not want others to know her real name, though she did say she was only staying in Wiltspoon for two more days. Once her master and his gang left, she would leave too as she was not a Wiltspoonian.
