Chapter 137
Chapter 137:
No one had expected Allison to appear so suddenly, and the air turned thick with shock, especially among those who had been tormenting Aimee.
But it didn’t take long for them to scramble to justify their actions, each donning a mask of righteousness.
“Ms.
Clarke, we were only teasing her, just joking around.”
Moments earlier, they had bullied Aimee, certain that she wouldn’t dare to resist.
After all, she had no one in her corner.
But now, with Allison stepping in, the dynamics shifted.
They all knew Kellan had been favoring Allison recently, and if she decided to report them… they couldn’t afford to make her an enemy.
But Marc’s thirst for revenge hadn’t cooled.
He hid his bruised wrist beneath his sleeve, his face stretched into a forced smile.
“Exactly! It’s really nothing.
Just harmless fun.
We always joke like this, and Aimee knows it’s never serious.
If you don’t believe me, you can ask her yourself.”
He turned to Aimee, his smile sickeningly sweet, though his tone carried an edge of warning.
“Isn’t that right, Aimee? We were just playing around.
Next time, we’ll make sure it doesn’t happen here so the boss doesn’t get the wrong idea.”
Allison’s eyes narrowed at Marc, about to retort, when Aimee suddenly nodded, clutching her hand with trembling fingers.
Her voice was shaky, laced with tears.
“It’s fine, Ms.
Clarke.
They were just playing.
You don’t need to worry about me.”
Marc’s smirk widened.
It was clear that he had expected this, and even though Allison’s expression darkened with rage, Marc wasn’t the least bit concerned.
He knew she couldn’t make a scene now.
Aimee’s decision to let it go tied Allison’s hands.
If she pushed the matter further, it would look like she was using her authority for personal reasons.
Sensing his victory, Marc grew bolder, stepping closer and giving Aimee a soft pat on the back.
“Aimee, we’ll joke somewhere else next time, alright?”
Feigning innocence, he turned to Allison, his tone almost condescending.
“Ms.
Clarke, I think you’re blowing this out of proportion.
I know you run the lab, but there’s no need to get so worked up over a little fun.”
He leaned in closer to Aimee, throwing Allison a taunting look.
“This is just the workplace.
We’re all colleagues here.
It’s only natural we mess around on our breaks.
No need to misunderstand our intentions.”
His words carried the thinly veiled suggestion that Allison was meddling where she didn’t belong.
Marc reveled in the situation.
If it weren’t for Allison, he wouldn’t be in this mess.
Watching her frustration felt like sweet payback.
He chuckled.
“Let’s go joke somewhere else…”
But before he could finish, a sudden, sharp pain exploded in his abdomen.
In the blink of an eye, Allison had sent him flying, crashing two feet back and slamming hard onto the floor.
“My back…” Marc gasped, clutching at his side, feeling as though his organs had been knocked out of place.
Before he could even gather his thoughts, a lunchbox came soaring through the air, smashing into his head.
The hot soup spilled everywhere, burning him as he howled in pain.
“Ahhh!”
Everyone stood frozen in shock.
Allison’s expression was cold, her eyes deadly.
She looked ready to strike again.
Instinctively, the others took a step back.
But Allison wasn’t done.
She grabbed a cup of iced coffee and flung it at them.
They scrambled to cover their heads, yelling in disbelief.
“Ms.
Clarke, this is too much!”
“What did we even do wrong?”
“You can’t just attack us like that! Even if you don’t like us!”
Her actions left everyone in shock.
No one had anticipated her resorting to violence in such a public setting.
Marc, scalded and still smarting from the kick, was now seething with rage.
The pretense of friendliness was gone.
“You… you assaulted me! I’m pressing charges!”
He tried to stand, only to collapse under the weight of his injuries.
He had never been so humiliated.
But Allison only smiled, her sweetness laced with menace.
“Assaulted you? I was just kidding around, Marc.
You said it yourself — this is how we ‘joke,’ right? And guess what? There’s no surveillance here!”
Her smile remained, but her eyes were cold as ice, sending a chill down everyone’s spine.
Then she casually took out her phone and waved it in front of them.
“But I did get a recording of your little jokes with Aimee.
Enough to charge you with intentional harm.”
Marc’s expression twisted in fury.
Who could have imagined that Allison would turn the tables like this, and even have the evidence ready?novelbin
Her voice was calm as she turned to Aimee.
“Don’t worry.
I’ve got proof.”
But instead of relief, guilt washed over Aimee’s face.
She lowered her head, trembling, as tears streamed down her cheeks.
“Ms.
Clarke, please,” she whispered.
“Just stay out of it.”
Allison blinked, taken aback by Aimee’s words.
It didn’t make sense.
Aimee wasn’t normally this submissive.
She had once defended Allison against office gossip.
So why was she acting so weak now, when she was the one being mistreated?
Unless… they were holding something over her.
Allison’s gaze flickered to Marc, who wore a sinister grin.
Aimee was terrified of something.
“We were just joking with me!” Aimee stammered.
Allison’s suspicions deepened, but she knew Aimee wouldn’t reveal the truth here, not in front of these people.
So, instead, she straightened and addressed the group.
“If you don’t want this video going public, leave.
Now!”
