Chapter 4 I’m Pregnant Too
Chapter 4 I’m Pregnant Too
“What’s going on?” Antonio turned around and wrinkled his eyebrows. The care he displayed by
immediately extending his hand to hold her up placed a big contrast against the aloofness when he
treated Adelaide. “My stomach hurts…” Tears flowed out of Clarissa’s eyes due to pain and her pitiful
look made people’s heart ached. Antonio frowned and unintentionally glimpsed at Adelaide. After a
moment of hesitation, he still carried Clarissa up and headed towards the outside.
Watching Antonio and Clarissa left, Adelaide shot a glare towards Channing who was still kneeling
there. She was wearing a bitter smile, yet there was a sharp pain in her heart. But luckily, she was
saved by the bell. Channing was then dragged away by someone but she did not care about that. The
living room became empty and lifeless once again. Watching the people in front of her leaving one by
one, she finally collapsed onto the couch.
She placed her hand on her tummy and caressed it. There was a brimming soft light in her eyes.
“Mommy would protect you. Mommy would not let anyone harm you, even if it’s your dad.” Her voice
was gentle but determined. Although only half the day had passed by, her heart had become stronger
than ever before. A mother’s love towards her child was indeed powerful.
Yet reality did not give Adelaide much chance to relax. Within an hour, Antonio had made a call back to
notify her to go to the hospital. Clarissa was lying on the bed with a cadaverous face like a fragile doll.
She who had been adored before made people wanted to protect her even more. Yet what shocked Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
Adelaide was Clarissa’s checkup report. It turned out that Clarissa had become pregnant for two
months! Besides that, the report said that she had a severe anemia too.
Adelaide was in a deep shock. She could tell who was the child’s father without even thinking, and the
reason Antonio asked her to come to the hospital would definitely not be to just inform her that Clarissa
was pregnant. “Because of you hitting her, you’ve hurt the baby and since Clarissa is anemic, every
blood bank in City H is out of blood. If I’m not wrong, your blood type is also Rh-negative, right?” As
expected, Antonio wanted her to become Clarissa’s blood bank!
Adelaide backed up until she reached the bed behind her. She felt that she was suddenly drained of
energy and could only stand upright by grasping the handle of the bed. Her instinct told her to run away
yet a doctor who was holding a patient file suddenly entered the ward. “Mr. Baron, have you made up
your mind? Miss Swift’s situation is really bad right now. If there’s no blood transfusion, the child could
be in danger too.” The doctor said with a serious tone of voice and Antonio seized Adelaide’s hand.
“Take her blood. Her blood type’s Rh-negative too.”
Adelaide’s face went pale yet no matter how she struggled, she could not get his hand off. “Antonio
Baron! You’re crazy! I’m pregnant too!”
“Oh?” Antonio stared at her coldly and a disdainful smile showed up on his face. “So what? Who knows
who that child belongs to? Yet the child in Clarissa’s tummy is undoubtedly mine.”
“Channing Darnell has said he was ordered! I’m innocent. I beg you, Antonio. It’s really your child!”
Adelaide screamed hysterically and her tears flowed out. “Let’s not say whether or not Darnell only
bluffed it to keep his leg. Even if it’s true, it doesn’t mean you didn’t mess with someone else. Not to
mention Clarissa’s life would be in danger if she’s not transfused with blood now. I suppose you as her
elder sister won’t be that cruel to see your sister die?”
Adelaide’s heart dropped as he spoke. She initially thought as long as she proved her innocence, he
would let her off. It turned out that her image towards him had been a debauched woman and it was
useless to speak for herself no matter what. She could no longer speak as if her energy had been
completely drained. She gave up and let Antonio took her out of the ward without struggling while a
smile slowly broke out on the lips of Clarissa who was lying on the bed.
