Chapter 195
Chapter 195
Screams could be heard from the hotel room throughout the night. Steven and Simon were then admitted to the hospital past midnight. Due to his age, Steven couldn't stand the torment and the injuries that he sustained, making him impotent. Simon, on the other hand, had injuries all over his body and his face was swollen.
They would probably dread the mention of women as a result of this accident. Moreover, two of them wouldn't be able to look for women for the time being since they had been admitted to the hospital because of their injuries, and the money they received from Alice was spent on paying for their medical bills. Both of them never thought that Wilson was so ruthless that he could have killed them.
After taking care of Steven and Simon, Wilson left for Jonestown. He had always wanted to visit Emma ever since she shifted there. The initial plan was for Nina to go with him, but since he had to take care of the two men, he didn't let her come along.
Soon, Trevor found out about what happened to Steven and Simon. When he heard that Wilson was behind this, his gaze darkened since he never expected the man to be so ruthless. Wilson's tit-for-tat approach was much more ruthless than Steven and Simon's usual means. Naturally, Trevor found out about his mother's deal with the father and son.
After listening to Cyrus' report on the whole incident, Trevor snapped the signature pen that he was holding in half, and it showed just how outraged he was. He never thought that his mother would instruct Steven and his son to harass Emma. He thought that Arianna's incident would serve as a warning to her and that they would repent of their wrongdoings.
He didn't ask for them to be fond of Emma, but he didn't know that his mother would be so relentless either. Even so, he seemed to have expected that much—it was a case of like mother, like daughter. He wouldn't have hesitated to take action if someone else had planned it, but since his mother was the one behind it, he couldn't help but do so.
After contemplating it for some time while clenching the broken pen, he stood up and took the car keys before leaving.
At lunchtime, Trevor turned up at the Bateson Family's residence where Alice and Arianna stayed. Jared stayed there as well during the past few days he was in town. It stood to reason that Jared wouldn't ever return, but because of Arinna's incident, Alice cried and pleaded for him to come back before he finally gave in.
Both Jared and Alice did not have romantic feelings for each other anymore and only maintained their relationship for the sake of protecting the Bateson Family's reputation. The reason Jared stayed abroad all year round was so that he could do whatever he wanted with his mistress without worrying that they'd be photographed.
When Trevor was at the door, Jared was carrying his luggage down the stairs. Seeing that, Alice asked in surprise, "Are you leaving?"
"Yes," he answered and glared at Trevor.
Jared had just received a phone call notifying him that his mistress had gotten into an accident abroad, and he had to rush back because of it. He was sure that Trevor was the one behind it just to make him leave. After all, Jared had been meeting up with Thomas frequently to discuss how to deal with Wilson
and Emma. If not for Wilson's ascendancy, he would have been done for. Because of that, they decided to shift their target to Emma.
"Have a safe trip," Trevor uttered nonchalantly.
He was never close to his father since Jared never once looked after him. Naturally, Trevor wouldn't be able to stand seeing him stay there and ruin his relationship with Emma.
"Dad, why are you leaving? My issue hasn't been resolved yet." Arianna rushed down and tried to stop him from leaving.
For Arianna, she wouldn't be able to accept it even if her sentence was suspended. However, her parents seemed to have given up on helping her to resolve the matter as they heard that Emma had gotten someone more influential than Jared to be her godfather, which made Arianna green with envy. She couldn't stand to see Emma being in a better position than her.
"I have tried my best." Jared raised his hand and pushed Arianna's hand that was tugging on his shirt before leaving without looking back.
Jared hadn't been close to his children because of Alice. In fact, he wouldn't have been back this time if it wasn't for Alice's desperate phone call. When he was abroad, he could do whatever he wanted while being accompanied by a gentle female partner, and he didn't have to face the hysterical Alice and Arianna. While Alice stared at her husband leaving, she pursed her lips.
"Trevor, Mom and Dad said that Emma has found herself a wealthy godfather. Why would you still want her back?" Arianna broke down in tears.
"Back then, she used the same way to latch on you. Can't you see through her?"
"The people that I can't see through are the both of you," he answered while looking at them impassively.
"If you hadn't been slandering her in front of me all these years, I wouldn't have misunderstood her so deeply." Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
When Emma and Trevor just got married, he was on his mother and sister's side since they were his closest family. Thus, every time they criticized Emma, he would subconsciously think that she was the one at fault.
After everything happened, he found out about Alice and Arianna's true colors, but he had completely lost Emma by then. It was said that married couples who had a strong bond would be able to withstand whatever obstacles, but alas, he never saw her as his wife during the three years they were married.
Alice and Arianna were deeply hurt by Trevor's cruel words. "Mom, look at Trevor—he'd rather turn his back on his family just for that woman!" Arianna stomped her foot and complained to Alice.
"Mom, you should go to the nursing home in the outskirts with Arianna later on," Trevor ordered decisively. He couldn't bear seeing the two of them anymore.
By the time the judgment of Arianna's case was made, he planned to send her to the nursing home to prevent her from causing any more trouble. Since Alice was behind Steven and Simon's incident, she had to be sent away too.
"I'm not going there!" Alice was irritated. "Why would I go to such a remote area? I'm staying put at
Jonestown!"
"There's no need for me to go as long as Arianna abides by the law, right?"
Nursing homes were mostly located on the outskirts. Although the place was serene, it was actually isolated from the world. This was simply unacceptable to Alice, who was accustomed to the rich and luxurious life in big cities.
"Why do you have to go? You should ask yourself what you've done," Trevor responded sternly. "Do you know what happened to Steven and Simon?" he asked indifferently.
Hearing that, she was staggered and looked embarrassed as she never expected him to find out about it that soon.
