Marking his territory
Lorraine
“We were supposed to go and have a drink, but he didn’t come on time.” I explained.
I expected a fight, knowing how easy it was for Dexter to flare up, but he didn’t do anything, instead he invited Bumpy in. “Why don’t we have the drink inside?”
Bumpy and I exchanged shocked glances then averted our gazes to Dexter who kept a straight face.
“Are you sure?”
“I didn’t have a drink in my mouth when I said it. I’m sure you both heard me clearly.” He spun around, and headed into the house while one of the chaffeurs drove the car in.
Phew! That was close.
“Let’s go in.” I ushered him in, while my mind thought of a hundred and one reasons why Dexter would invite the both of us into the house.
Committing murder wasn’t an option because he was too noble for that, but he was unpredictable and I was sure Bumpy wouldn’t let his guard down that easily.
“You have a nice house.” Bumpy commented and I smiled.
“Thanks, Bumpy, I’d like to see yours too.”
He rolled his eyes and smirked. “You aren’t going to stop calling me Bumpy, are you?” We both laughed and halted on our steps immediately we got in as the sight we met was disgusting.
Victoria was unclad-completely naked with a young man sitting on the sofa. She covered her breasts with her hand and her lower end, leaving little to our imaginations.
I was awestruck as I couldn’t even tell when the man came in.
“Who’s the slut now?” I couldn’t stop myself from mocking her as she rewarded me with an embarrassed expression. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
Bumpy squeezed my arms, warning me to keep quiet but I didn’t care. Once in a while she needed to get a dose of her own medicine and that was exactly what I was doing.
She called me a slut before I left, but who knew that she had her own brothel in her brother’s house.
“What is Tori doing here?” Bumpy asked no one in particular and went close to her, then I noticed how she couldn’t meet his gaze.
I blinked hard in realisation.
They knew each other before?
Wait a minute. Was this the lady he was talking to me about?
Dexter, who was glaring daggers at Tori and the other man, shrugged with his shoulders hanging tiredly. “She’s my younger sister. Why?” He didn’t understand what was going on yet.
It took some time before Bumpy could reply which confirmed my assumption. “She’s my ex.” He muttered under his breath but it was audible enough for all of us to hear him.
I dropped to an arm chair beside the dented sofa and cheeked in my smile. The atmosphere was tense and I didn’t want to risk getting both men more riled up than they were.
Dexter’s eyes widened as he stared at Victoria. “You dated this man?”
She placed her head which was inclined between her palms and nodded.
“Get out!” The both of them chorused, barking at the nude man who scurried away with his jeans and shirt in his hands.
Simultaneously, we closed our eyes and waited for Victoria to fix herself up before Dexter began to interrogate her. “We have a lot to talk about, but let me start with what just happened now. You have a bedroom, Victoria, why do you have to do it here?” Dexter’s voice bore a great degree of disappointment I understood.
It was very difficult to live with a sister who did nothing but bring trouble. I hoped that he’d get a house for her soon so she would have all the privacy she needed.
“Throes of passion?” She replied nonchalantly, but lowered her lashes when Dexter took an angry step towards her. “I’m sorry…”She whispered.
“Oh no, you’re not!” He flared up. “You’re sorry because we caught you here and not because you wouldn’t do it again. Your ex even caught you misbehaving, I’m guessing this is the reason he broke up with you.”
She scoffed and scratched her hair. “There was a good reason for our break up. He couldn’t give me what I wanted so I had to get it from someone else.”
Dexter banged his fist on the glass table so hard I thought it would crack. “Mother didn’t train you to be like this. What happened?”
“Life happened.” She picked up her bra from the chair and made to walk out when she stopped in front of me. “Why don’t you tell Dexter about the man that was all over you before my brother came back.”
I felt a squeezing sensation in my chest as I began to pant. How could I not have known that she’d be watching me through the window?
“What is she talking about?” Dexter snapped.
I took a deep breath and waited for her to leave before answering. “Liam came here.” I answered hastily, then got to my feet and headed to the wine cellar. “I thought we all wanted to have a drink?”
I was very sure that they were passing intimidating glances at each other but I didn’t care. I didn’t have much knowledge on alcohols but I wanted something that was subtly strong, so I went for a bottle of vodka.
“Why did he come?”
“To see you.” I replied and hoped that he wouldn’t bring up the matter again.
On dropping the glasses on the table, Dexter cleared his throat. “How possible is it that you dated my sister and now you’re interested in my wife?” He blurted.
My eyes widened as I threw a warning glance at him. “You didn’t have to say that.”
“I’m not interested in your wife, man, but if you are scared that I’ll be, it wouldn’t be so bad, huh?” He shrugged and downed the glass of drink I’d poured for him.
The tension was heightening and I didn’t like what the result would be. The men beside me were powerful both physically and financially. One wanted to mark his territory and make sure no one came near, and the other… I didn’t even know his intentions other than him being a good friend.
“The both of you should calm down,” I demanded rather harshly. “When is the shoot going to start?” I decided to change the topic.
With his eyes still on Dexter, he replied. “By noon. You have to be on time because he doesn’t tolerate lateness.”
Dexter dropped his empty glass and trained a gaze that was supposed to be intimidating on me, but wasn’t. “And I’ll drive there myself and wait until she’s done.”
“What the hell?” I argued.
“I don’t want someone to snatch you away while you’re looking all hot and exposed. We already have someone ready to trespass and he’s just waiting for the right time.” He glared at Bumpy and shook his head. “I won’t allow it.”
