Chapter 3290 Press Conference
As Matthew stepped out of Kainne's mansion, he was deep in thought. He began counting silently to himself.
"Three."
"Two." "One."
Right on cue, a loud scream pierced the air. Inside the small porcelain bottle Matthew had given Kainne was indeed a remedy to heal his wounds, but what Matthew hadn't mentioned was how painful it would be when applied.
The next morning, Montiria Hall was packed with journalists. Cameras in hand, DSLRs hanging around their necks, they were buzzing with excitement and anticipation. Rumors had spread that a major announcement would be made. Their eyes flicked between their watches and the stage, counting down to the official start time: eight o'clock.
...
Tick. Tick. Tick.
With the tick of the final second, the room grew tense. Just then, footsteps echoed as Fiorenna, dressed in a grand robe, led the way, with Matthew following closely behind in a sharp suit.
Fiorenna faced the flashing cameras, her calm smile unwavering. "Ladies and gentlemen, two nights ago, a treacherous rebellion took place in my residence!"
Though the reporters were already aware of this, hearing Fiorenna address it directly caused a stir.
"And during that rebellion, my
husband, King Gadel, disappeared..." Her voice trembled with sorrow but quickly shifted to a stronger tone. "Even with the King missing, Montiria is not without leadership! Our Prime Regent, devastated by the news, immediately set out top pursue Aelion Tarian, the traitor behind the uprising. Though Aelion was gravely wounded and fled, we have reason to believe that His Majesty King
Gadel is still alive!"
Of course, this wasn't the full truth-by the time Matthew reached Everton, Aelion was already long gone. But the primary goal now was to reassure the public, and a few harmless lies were part of the plan.
"And today, I am adding another pillar of strength to Montiria! On behalf of the King, I officially appoint Mr. Mortimer Zedler as the Grand Master of our nation."
The crowd of reporters erupted in chatter.
One female reporter stepped forward, microphone in hand. "Your Highness, how can you be sure that King Gadel wasn't killed?"
Before Fiorenna could answer,
Matthew stepped forward. "When I wounded Aelion, he shouted that if it hadn't been for a moment of carelessness, Gadel would never have escaped. From this, we know that His Majesty is alive. In fact, he may already be making his way back to Everton as we speak."
The reporter pressed on, "And what can you tell us about Mr. Zedler's appointment as Grand Master?"
"Mr. Zedler played a crucial role in defending Montiria during the recent business clash with Dornia. He also aided me in pursuing Aelion. His experience and loyalty make him more than worthy of this title."

the press conference concluded.
The announcement had made its mark, and Matthew's plan was unfolding as expected. The next step would be to spread the news-across all-Montirian media, solidifying the narrative he and Fiorenna had crafted.
