Chapter 4 You’ve Gone Too Far
Chapter 4 You’ve Gone Too Far
Cecil’s stormy gaze and the faint smell of tobacco coming from him made Linda’s heart palpitate.
At last, the man leaned in and uttered two cold words. “Get out.”
After saying that, he roughly let go of her waist, stood up, and walked towards the bathroom.
Not daring to disobey him, Linda quietly walked out of the bedroom.
This was her first day in the SN Mansion, so after leaving the bedroom and closing the door behind her, she didn’t know where to go. The servants had already gone to bed, and the lights were all turned off, making the mansion look dark and unwelcoming. Feeling lost, she squatted at the door of the bedroom, with her arms around her legs and her chin against her knees.
She remained in this position the whole night.
The nervous ticking of her heart kept her awake till dawn, when she finally dozed off.
In the morning, when Cecil opened the door of his room, the first thing he saw was a woman crouched on the floor, still wearing the same silk nightdress.
In her sleep, her brows were drawn together into a frown, as if she was having a bad dream.
Without hesitation, Cecil raised his foot and kicked her.
Linda opened her eyes in an instant. Subconsciously, she looked around and saw Cecil staring at her. “Mr…. Mr. Bo,” she stammered in surprise.
“Did you sleep here all night?” Cecil asked coldly.
“Yes.”
He snorted and raised his hand to pinch the space between his eyebrows.
“Change your clothes and come downstairs,” he said finally. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Linda nodded obediently. “Okay…”
She tried to stand up, but her legs were so numb that she fell down again.
As she fell, she unwittingly let out a scream.
However, the man standing next to her just looked at her indifferently without making any move to help her. The expression on his face didn’t so much as flicker.
Finally, Linda forced herse
lf to stand up and staggered into the bedroom. Last night, the servants had already prepared clothes for her to wear and kept them in the master bedroom.
Twenty minutes later, after changing her clothes and washing up in a hurry, Linda went downstairs.
The servants in the villa all greeted her respectfully as they walked by. “Good morning, Mrs. Bo.”
Every time Linda heard the greeting, she stole a glance at Cecil’s face to see his reaction, but he remained calm, betraying neither a trace of joy, nor anger, nor sadness.
A few minutes later, he asked the housekeeper to call all the servants in the villa.
As soon as Linda heard his order, she had a bad feeling.
When all the servants gathered in the hall of the villa, Cecil glanced at the housekeeper beside him. The housekeeper quickly approached him and leaned in to listen to his instructions. After receiving Cecil’s order, she looked at Linda with an unreadable expression.
Noting the disdainful look in the housekeeper’s eyes, Linda subconsciously looked at Cecil, as if asking him for help.
Although Cecil had not made her feel welcome, he was the only one that she knew in this house, and the only one that she felt she could turn to.
However, Cecil pointedly stared into the distance without looking at her.
The housekeeper walked in front of the servants and announced, “Everyone, listen. The woman standing next to Mr. Bo is not Mrs. Bo, but Miss Linda Ye, her twin sister. From now on, she has the same status as all of you. If you need any work done, just order her. Besides, since she is nothing but Mrs. Bo’s substitute, we can call her a fake from now on.”
Linda’s head spun to look at Cecil in disbelief. She had lived for twenty-four years, but this was her first time being humiliated like this.
Her face darkened as she said, “Mr. Bo, you’ve gone too far.”
