Chapter 33
Third-Person Narrative.
“I can’t take it any longer, Father; I don’t even get to see them again. They are always at her place and are often seen all over the place with that fat fool,” Gwen ranted in tears, as soon as she was alone with her father, who had come to visit her.
Despite her efforts to get the attention of at least one of the triplet alphas, they have all been avoiding her like a plague.
Even Derrick, whom she thought she had wrapped around her little fingers, has since deserted her, and she no longer finds it funny.
She has been saddled with the responsibility of locking herself up in her room all day.
She was too embarrassed to step out of the palace because of the embarrassing questions people kept asking her.
Even the palace servant has not spared her from their side talks and gossip.
The news of the triplets being mated to her formal maid has spread like wildfire, and she has become a source of mockery among her peers.
She was still finding it hard to believe that the triplet would leave her to go for someone who was as classless and fat as Gina.
She could almost swear that the triplets were not in their right senses, like how many alphas go after fat, ugly, shapeless, low-class girls?
And even if the triplets liked someone of her size, couldn’t they have simply asked her to put on some weight instead of settling for her maid?
This was no ordinary situation; she believed that the triplets had been bewitched by Gina and her wretched parents.
Lucas Amel has never been thrown into a more dicey situation than he was at the moment. Even though he was truly disappointed with the turn of events, he was also trying to be careful about not taking laws into his hands.
But seeing his daughter break apart every time he came to see her made him sad. He loved his daughter so much and would do anything for her.
“Have you tried complaining to the queen? She might be able to talk them into setting their priorities right,” he suggested to his daughter.
“That old witch, she doesn’t even like me,” Gwen said to her father with so much disdain in her voice. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
But her claims were far from the truth; when Gwen was first brought to the palace, she was well received by the triplets’ mother.
She took Gwen as her daughter and would often advise her to be nicer to the maids who were assigned to her.
But that was never the case with Gwen; she would insult and physically abuse her maids until the Queen was forced to change the maids to other mistresses in the palace.
However, in time, Gwen started feeling like she was being controlled by Luna. And since she was going to be mated to all triplet alphas, she felt she was more important than the sitting Luna.
She would search for every opportunity to slam the Luna and silently go against her wish in the palace, and with time the Luna would notice this and give her an arm’s length gap between them.
“I am so confused; I wonder why the seer is yet to say anything, and I would rather not do anything out of a rush that would later come to affect us both,” he said to his daughter.
“The fat fool has to go, father; I don’t just care how,” she said to her father.
“I know, but if anything happens to her now, we will be the first to be fingered. I very well understand your situation, my darling, but can I at least beg for a little more patience? Nevertheless, I will talk to the king to restrain the triplets from going over to her place until the truth has been uncovered. Is that fine with you?” He questioned his daughter with care.
She nodded in approval while sniffing her nose.
After the meeting with his daughter ended, Lucas Amel went to see the Alpha King and complained bitterly about how badly his daughter had been treated by the triplets.
He asked that the alpha king restrict the rate at which the triplets visit the slave girl, as she may have used some sort of magic on them.
The alpha king apologized to his friend as he claimed ignorance of the triplet’s activities and promised that he was going to completely ban his triplet from going to see the slave girl.
Satisfied with the king’s decision, Lucas Amel went back to his daughter to reassure her that the triplets would change their attitude towards her henceforth.
And that she also needed to try to be closer to the triplets’ mother.
Gwen, who was feeling a little relieved, agreed with what her father had said.
Later that evening, she dressed up in one of her beautiful robes and went to the Luna chambers to see the Luna, Miranda.
She was surprised and a little irritated to see the triplets’ mother chatting and laughing with her maids while they were helping her massage her feet.
Gwen does not understand why Luna Miranda was being nice to her maids, whom she felt needed to be handled with an iron fist. After all, they were nothing but several nuisances.
But since she was there to ask the Luna to beg her sons into spending some time with her, she quickly wiped off the disgusted look on her face and replaced it with a beautiful, pretentious smile.
“Good evening, Mother,” she said with a smile that was almost choking her heart.
She hated the fact that she had to be nice, even for a moment, to Queen Luna.
Her voice directed Luna Miranda’s attention to her, and it was obvious that the triplets’ mother was truly surprised to see Gwen in her chambers.
For Gwen had long ago stopped coming to visit the Luna because she never really saw the need.
“Good evening, dear,” Luna Miranda sweetly said to her with a smile.
“Come join us; I was told a very funny story by Rita,” Miranda said to Gwen while pointing to one of her maids.
Gwen couldn’t fathom how the queen could be so comfortable chatting with commoners and slaves.
To her, the Queen didn’t understand what it meant to be royal. No wonder the king always listened to her father because who would want to seek advice from a classless queen?
She was no longer able to hide her repulsion at the queen’s classless and carefree attitude toward her maids.
“I was wondering if I could have some time with you alone; there is something crucial I need to discuss with you,” she said, with a fake smile that even a blind man could see through.
“Oh, okay, ladies, why don’t you excuse us for now?” “I will listen to the entire story once I am done,” Miranda said to her maids, who happily left her chambers.
“Come, sit with me,” Miranda said to Gwen while tapping gently on the bed space beside her.
Gwen goes to sit with her, and almost instantly her countenance changes, just as she has been rehearsing.
“What is the issue, dear?” The queen asked with concern as soon as she noticed Gwen’s gloominess.
“It’s your children,” she said, wiping invincible tears from her eyes.
“What about my children?” Luna questioned with concern.
“They no longer pay me any attention; they spend most of their time with the slave girl and hardly notice me around the palace,” she said while sobbing.
Luna, now realizing why Gwen had come to visit her, tries as much as she can to be diplomatic with her response to her.
“Oh, dear, I am sure you have just been overly worried about nothing; I think they are with her because of the mate bond. You can’t blame them for that; anyone would want to spend time with the one that their heart yells for,” Miranda said to her while trying to conceal the fact that her secret prayers had been answered.
You see, it is true that Luna first happily accepted Gwen when she first arrived at the palace.
But after spending some time with her and knowing how to mean that she could be with those that were not on the same status as her, the queen became scared for her boys and the future of the pack.
She believed that Gwen would bring nothing but pain and hardship to the people of the pack once she became the Luna. And therefore, she had been silently praying for some sort of miracle to happen.
She was a little surprised that her triplets had claimed the maid as their mate and thought that maybe it was the goddess’s way of telling Gwen to amend her ways.
“But they are my mates; they were meant to feel the bond with me,” Gwen said to the queen.
“I understand your concern, dear, but the gods are mysterious in their ways. Why don’t you give it time? The pack seer has yet to say anything regarding this,” Miranda said softly to Gwen, who was not pleased with her response.
“But, can you at least tell them to stop going to her chambers for now?” she asked the luna.
“I am sorry I cannot do that; aside from the fact that they are my children, they have also grown into men, capable of making their own decisions,” Miranda said to a visibly pissed Gwen.
Gwen angrily left the Luna chambers with the decision that if no one was going to help her get rid of Gina, she was going to do so herself.
