Chapter 9 Is Daddy Always Busy?
Chapter 9 Is Daddy Always Busy?
In the afternoon, Margery went to the counter to pay the medical fee for Andrew. After swiping the credit card for payment, she noticed that she still needed forty thousand to pay off the rest.
"Ms. Bryne, according to the rules here, you have to pay off the rest within 24 hours."
When noticing the disdainful look of the cashier, Margery took back her card and smiled awkwardly, "Okay."
She put the card back into her wallet and sighed. She walked to the lobby to make a call, feeling upset, "Zola, it's me. How much working fund do we still have?"
"Margery, don't you remember that we only have less than four thousand left? If we still have no supply of special medicine, we couldn't even pay off the salary of our staffs. Please do something about it."
"Okay, I see."
Margery hung up the phone, feeling powerless. Her eyes seemed to darken again.
She suddenly had an urge to dial Golden's number.
She swiped on her phone out of subconsciousness. However, just as she clicked on his number, she immediately clicked again to cancel the cal. She leaned against the wall and let out a bitter smile.
If Golden had been willing to do her a favor, he would have done so earlier.
Now, her only option was to sell her own car.
Though her mini sedan was only worth three hundred thousand, it was the last heritage she got from her family.
However, she still had to sell it for the sake of Andrew.
Margery told the carer to take care of Andrew. Then she drove her car to a used-car market.
As she was badly in need of cash, she only sold her own car with a price of a hundred thousand. Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
However, a hundred thousand was only enough to pay off the salary for staffs.
She still had no idea what she should do to pay off the medical fee for Andrew.
Margery frowned and walked out of the market. She walked for a mile to reach a bus stop nearby just because she needed to save money.
When she arrived at the gate of the hospital, she noticed that her heels were bleeding and her ankles felt exceedingly painful due to sprain.
She bent over to rub against her ankle. Not until then did she feel better. She slowly stood up straight and turned around. Suddenly, she saw someone unexpected. She said with a smile, "What's the matter, Miss Gibson?"
Pansy looked haggard as if she were encountering something miserable. Her eyes were bloodshot and filled with hatred. She then questioned, "Margery, did you speak ill of me in front of Golden? Why did he offer me a check with ten million for the rescission of our contract? He just promised to me last night that he would go to the press conference with me for my new TV series."
"Ten million as compensation for your breakup? He is really generous." Margery smiled bitterly, which was even highlighted because of the cold autumn wind.
"That's not the point!" Pansy stared at her, who still looked exceedingly calm. She was even wondering if Margery went crazy. Pansy glared at her and cursed, "Bitch! Golden has been with me for three years! He has never mentioned about breakup! However, just after he saw you last night, he asked for a breakup today! It must be because of you!"
"I didn't!" Margery clenched her fists and swallowed to hold back her sadness. She raised her head and smiled bitterly, "Have you heard of Vivian Martin? The top beauty in this city. She was turned into a vegetable three years ago because of medical negligence. But she suddenly woke up this morning. She even came to Golden's company to see him regardless of her own weak body. That's why he offered you a breakup check."
Even Margery herself had never expected that Pansy, who was well-known, young and pure, was still overtaken by Vivian.
She should have known earlier that only Vivian was his beloved one.
"Vivian Martin? She woke up?" Pansy's face darkened immediately and mixed feelings surged up in her heart. Then, she turned around and hurried to leave.
After she left, Margery stood still for a while. She made a call to Zola. When her staff arrived, Margery handed the money to her. Then she teetered towards Andrew's ward with her sprained ankles.
Andrew just woke up and the carer was feeding him with porridge. When seeing Margery coming in, he blinked his big eyes excitedly. However, he was upset when noticing that Golden didn't appear from behind, "Mom, is daddy busy every single day?"
"Yes, daddy is very busy."
Margery walked over and helped to wash his face. Then she tucked him in and started to read a story with a book beside the bed.
Before she could finish the second story, Andrew fell into sleep again.
Margery put aside the book and raised her eyes to look outside the window. As night fell, her heart felt heavy.
She stood up and let out a deep breath. She told the carer something she had to notice while taking care of Andrew. Then she took her bag and walked out of the ward.
She still remembered the request of Golden—she needed to go to the East Villa to please him tonight.
She never dared to go against his order.
