Chapter 100 You Should Thank Mr. Herbart

Blanche returned to the dining room and sat down a little lost, but accidentally locked eyes with Louis. Blanche averted her eyes and served a bowl of porridge.

"Where have you been?" Louis scowled as if he'd seen through something

Blanche took a sip of the fresh porridge and glanced up at Louis.

"Went to the bathroom, didn't I say so?"

Louis’ sharp eyes narrowed: "Just went to the washroom. It's running to the washroom to meet someone you want to see, right?” "You followed me?”

Louis's face is like frost. His eyes are not bad. Just now Henry was dining next to him, and he is not blind, couldn't he see?

Big brother's seat had just been empty. Louis was out of his mind for a while. then Blanche went to the washroom. He had a hunch that Blanche was going after big brother.

Facing Blanche's upset questioning, Louis’ face was gloomy. Blanche again felt that Louis had nothing to do, scooped up a spoonful of porridge and ate a mouthful of it sullenly.

"If you like big brother so much, why didn't you just marry him in the first place, since he happen to be unmarried.” Blanche blinked swiftly. It sounded easy to understand, but why did she feel difficult to digest it?

Was he angry because she had gone to see the big brother on her own?

No, by the questioning attitude, he must thought she had an affair with the big brother.

She had only gone to see Big Brother to help with her grandmother's operation. It wasn't like she had done anything wrong to him. Blanche retorted without a trace of anger.

"That big brother is not married, but he has a fiancée, Miss Huang."

“You mean if he doesn’t have a fiancée, you really want to marry him."

Blanche:"?"

He was deliberately pissing her off. How could he say something like this with no possibility at all. Blanche simply buried her head and ate, no longer paying attention to Louis.

This fresh shrimp congee was too fresh and tasted excellent. Blanche ordered another bowl of fresh shrimp congee and decided to take advantage of the lunch break to bring it to her grandmother.

Louis left his seat with a cold face and went to the washroom

Blanche glanced at the cold back, pouted a little, and continued eating her congee.

Sam looked back to make sure Louis had gone far away and turned back. He was worried because Mr. Herbart was really angry this time. He could feel that Mr. Herbart cared a little about Mrs. Herbart, but Mrs. Herbart didn’t respond at all.

Sam made up his mind and looked steadily at Blanche.

"Mrs. Herbart, is the porridge good?"

Blanche paused. Did Sam meant he want to eat it too?

"It's delicious, do you want some too? I'll serve you a bowl."

Blanche would never forget Sam's intercession on her behalf, and was ready to serve Sam the congee.

"No, I want to talk to Mrs. Herbart about something."

Seeing Sam's solemn face, and his carefully glancing back, Blanche was slightly stunned.

"Mr. Turner, go ahead."

"It's like this. I actually didn't even see Cathy hit Mrs. Herbart with a rock.”

Blanche was taken aback.

"Then why do you say that? Do yau think it's because I'm a good person and deliberately bear false witness on my behalf?”

"It was Mr. Herbart who told me to say that to her ladyship, and it should have been Mr. Herbart who saw it, and you can thank Mr. Herbart if you want to."

Blanche's snow-clean face twitched slightly, and Louis was so angry that he jammed a hand round her neck . and almost strangled her; he had not seen it at all.

By the way, when he'd found her in the orchard with a bruise on her head, he'd asked instead if Cathy had hit her.

Did he guess?

Sam added: "Mrs. Herbart, you mustn't tell Mr. Herbart that I said that."

A big question mark popped into Blanche's head. Why? She was about to ask a follow-up question, but noticed Louis coming back. Louis came back to get his coat.

"Did you eat well?”

Blanche touched her stomach, feeling full, and put down her spoon.

Sam got up. "I'll get the check."

Louis and Sam walked out for a while and noticed that Blanche, whe should have stayed on as a waitress, had followed them Blanche guessed that Louis didn’t understand and raised the porridge in her hand.

"It's break time already, and I'm going to the hospital to bring Grandma her porridge."

Blanche exited the restaurant and separated-from Louis, standing at” the side of the highway to get a’cab whens a blacked- out, top-end luxury sU\rove up, its occupant lowering the-teal windows. to“ -

Blanche craned her head and glanced at the side of Louis' face which was angular but kinda icy, and Blanche made several attempts to speak, but nothing came out.

"Here we are.” The car stopped, but the passenger was still sitting motionless

"Oh." Blanche went to pull on the handlebar, but then twisted her head around in resolve. “Thanks.”

Louis frowned slightly and lowered the window, "Thanks for what?”

Blanche snapped back to Sam's last reminder to never let Louis know about this.

"Thanks, for driving me to the hospital.”

"Are you going to follow me up to see Grandma?" Blanche didn't realise that she had asked the question in a very light tone.

Louis was as tall and leggy as a walking male model, and Grandma would be very pleased to see the talented Louis.

Blanche's question had caught Louis out. She only saw Louis’ gaze. withdrawn from a corner of the car park, frozen for a moment. "You go up first."

"Oh!"

To Blanche's chagrin, it turned out she was overthinking it.
