Chapter 1483 Mysterious Call
"Mrs. Clemens!" Rebecca rushed over to support her. "Are you alright?"
"Oh my God, Ms. James!"
Annika walked in, saw what was happening, and quickly helped Sadie to the couch.
"Here, have some oatmeal." Rebecca brought over a bowl, her eyes red with worry. "Are you just tired, or is it low blood sugar?"
"Probably both."
Annika fed Sadie some oatmeal, and Sadie's color started to come back.
"You're gonna worry me to death," Annika said, both angry and anxious. "You're only human; you can't keep pushing yourself like this."
She continued, "We've already got so many sick and injured people at home. If you keep this up, we'll have one more."
"Enough, stop nagging," Sadie said weakly, clearly exhausted.
"I don't care. You need to rest tonight," Annika's eyes were red. "Or I'll tell the kids."
"You've got some nerve, threatening me."
Sadie held her feverish forehead, looking utterly worn out.
"Mrs. Clemens, please listen. Eat something and get some sleep," Rebecca urged,
bringing the oatmeal closer. "Come on, have some oatmeal."
Sadie couldn't argue with them and obediently drank the oatmeal.
Then, under their watchful eyes, she took a hot bath and went to bed.
She was indeed very, very tired.
But she was also terrified of sleeping.noveldrama
Every time she closed her eyes, she saw Micah struggling in the fire, his face full of pain and despair. The thought of it made her heart ache unbearably.
"Rest well, you're exhausted and need sleep," Annika said, staying by her side. "Don't think too much, just sleep."
Sadie closed her eyes and gradually fell asleep.
Annika gently brushed Sadie's hair from her forehead, tucked her in, and stayed by her side.
Rebecca placed a thermos on the table and whispered to Annika, "I put some ginseng in the cup. If Mrs. Clemens feels unwell when she wakes up, she can drink some."

"Thank you, Rebecca. You should rest now."
Annika thanked her and saw Rebecca out.
Sadie was truly exhausted and soon fell into a deep sleep.
Annika wrapped herself in a blanket on the couch, her mind heavy with recent events. She felt deeply troubled and a bit helpless.
With danger lurking everywhere, Sadie was bearing too much on her own.
This was just the beginning, and her body was already giving out. What would they do in the future?
As she pondered, Annika's phone suddenly vibrated. She saw it was an unknown
number and, feeling curious, took the call in the bathroom.
"It's me," a cold, deep voice said on the other end.
"Mr. James?"
Annika was so excited she nearly jumped.

She quickly covered her mouth, glanced back at the bedroom, and with trembling hands, clutched the phone. "Mr. James, is it really you? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Tristan's voice was icy.
"Listen, don't tell Sadie I called," Tristan ordered.
"Yes, yes," Annika nodded hurriedly.
"I have a few questions. Answer truthfully," Tristan demanded.
"Okay!"
"Is Micah really dead?"
Annika paused, then carefully replied, "I'm not sure. After the fire, the police didn't find
him at the scene, nor did they find his body."
"They said there was another fire in the room, caused by a highly toxic substance that could reduce a person to ashes, so..."
"A highly toxic substance?" Tristan repeated.
"Yes, that's what the police said. They suspect Mr. Clemens might have perished in the fire, but Ms. James refuses to accept it. She still believes Mr. Clemens is alive."
