BIT 105
Suddenly, Victoria turned to Rebecca with wide eyes, “Who allowed you to come in here?!” she shouted in surprise.
Rebecca jumped, nearly spilling the tray of tea in her hands. She almost spoke but quickly remembered that she was pretending to be mute. Nervously, she placed the tea tray on the table and reached into her apron to pull out a chat gadget, but Victoria pushed her hard, causing her to fall to the floor.
“JUST GET OUT OF HERE!”
“What the hell are you doing? She’s just doing her job!” shouted Harvey as he quickly walked over to Rebecca and helped her up.
When Harvey’s hand touched her skin, Rebecca felt her heart racing so fast that she feared everyone could hear it.
“Are you okay?” Harvey asked.
Rebecca hurriedly looked down. Harvey must not see into her eyes, or her disguise would be revealed. She quickly pulled her arm away from Harvey and walked quickly out of the library. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
“Shit! I should have been able to hear more,” she muttered silently. As she walked back to the laundry room, she thought about Harvey’s words.
“I’ll do whatever it takes to change the inheritance terms so I don’t have to wait until I’m forty, what was that supposed to mean?”
“Marianne! Finish all the laundry before you end your shift,” shouted Margareth, who had just appeared from the stairs, as if she had just finished putting sheets on Harvey’s bed.
Rebecca nodded as she followed Margareth down the hallway toward the back door. “Has Nancy told you about the forbidden basement?” Margareth muttered, making Rebecca turn in surprise.
Rebecca shook her head, looking at Margareth with curiosity.
Margareth snorted, “Victoria forbids anyone from going down to the basement except Nancy and Mia. D**n! I don’t know what they’re hiding down there!” she exclaimed angrily.
Rebecca stared in shock; her instincts could not be wrong. Victoria must be hiding Harvey’s biological mother in the basement of this mansion-it’s utterly ridiculous.
“If you want to sneak into the basement and peek at what’s down there, I’ll give you my salary shoes,” Margareth whispered with a raised eyebrow and a smile.
Rebecca just grimaced. Of course, she would sneak down there, but she had to wait for the right time because doing it without a solid plan would be futile.
Rebecca stood ironing clothes for nearly two hours and managed to finish all her work by four in the afternoon. She had just exited the laundry room when she saw Nancy walking quickly toward the storage room, carrying a bottle of drinking water
and a basket of bread.
“It’s the storage basement, not the main building basement! No wonder Harvey didn’t know about this,” Rebecca muttered. She clenched her fists and walked toward the maid’s room instead of following Nancy; at least she now knew where they were keeping Harvey’s mother.
After changing her clothes, Rebecca walked to the main gate while looking around the large mansion, reminiscing about her

past there. As she passed a sunall sitting garden under a shady tree, she accidentally saw Alicia sitting there, with her back to
her.
“Don’t you ever dare to show up! And don’t try to threaten me! I can get rid of you easily; there are plenty of pregnant women who need money out there, I just need to choose one!”
Rebecca stared in shock at Alicia’s words to someone on the phone. Harvey was not lying when he said he never touched Alicia-not after he truly married Rebecca. Finally, one by one, everything was being revealed.
A few minutes later,
“Look who’s back!”
Rebecca smiled upon seeing Susan holding Lily while watching TV.
“Oh, Susan! I owe you my life! I’ll clean up and be back as soon as possible!” Rebecca exclaimed as she ran to her room and returned with clean clothes seven minutes later.
“You don’t need to rush; I’m really enjoying my time with Rosie, said Susan when she saw Rebecca come back hurriedly.
Rebecca grimaced, “How could I do that to you? You should be able to rest enough, you know what? I’ll put Rose to sleep for a bit and then come back to cook dinner,” she said as she took Lily from Susan’s hands.
Susan snorted,
“Don’t bother cooking; we can heat up yesterday’s lasagna. Well, I have to go to Magda’s house for a bit to drop something off,” she said cheerfully.
After Susan left, Rebecca quickly called Max and told him all her findings in the mansion.
“Alright, I’ll find out why Harvey has to wait until he’s 40 to pass on his inheritance and, of course, about Alicia’s fake pregnancy,” Max said quickly.
“Great! Um, about Sean…”
“He’s looking for you, and I could tell he looked really furious, so your decision to leave him is the best one.”
Rebecca sighed deeply; something was bothering her chest. “Thank you, Max.”
The next morning, while Rebecca was preparing breakfast, her phone suddenly vibrated-a call from Max. She glanced at Susan and found her busy cleaning the garden.
“Max? Any update?”
“Yeah, Harvey’s late grandfather made a stipulation that before Harvey turns forty, he cannot pass on his inheritance to anyone; well, I guess he anticipated something like this happening,” Max said, his tone firm and cold as usual.
Rebecca was taken aback; she nodded while her eyes kept watching Susan from afar.
“Does Victoria intend to lock Harvey’s biological mother for five years? I mean, Harvey is 35 now,” she muttered with a
furrowed brow.
“If that’s necessary, that’s why she got rid of you and Lily. Harvey has to be with Alicia because she’s easy to control.” Rebecca rubbed her face,

“I wonder why Harvey didn’t involve the police; I mean, he could have recorded his conversation with Victoria and told the police the truth,” she said impatiently.
Max paused for a moment and then cleared his throat,
“If you were Victoria, what would you do if you knew Harvey reported your actions to the police?” he asked flatly.
Rebecca frowned, trying to imagine herself as Victoria.
“If I were Victoria and found out that Harvey involved the police, I would kill Harvey’s mother before he met her and make him regret it for the rest of his life,” she said slowly, shocked by her own words.
“**t! I understand now…”
