Chapter 33
Chapter 33
The phone ringing belonged to Nicola, and her face turned pale when she saw the caller ID.
The caller was her disabled husband, Cillian. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Nicola’s hand trembled as she grabbed the phone. “Cillian, what do you want?”
“Nicola, are you fooling around with another man again? Get back here!” Cillian roared.
Nicola took a deep breath, trying hard to keep her voice calm. “Cillian, can I come back later? I have something urgent…”
“Are you trying to cheat on me? Nicola, if you don’t get back here right now, I’ll have Mr. Burley kill that old
woman.”
Nicola’s heart skipped a beat when she heard Silas‘ name. She softly replied, “Okay, I’ll come back now.”
After hanging up the phone, Nicola looked at Willow with deep guilt. “Willow, I’m sorry, I can’t accompany you to the hospital. You have to go to the hospital yourself and take care of your wound.”
Nicola was afraid she would start crying if she continued talking to Willow, so she quickly ran toward the door.
Even after Nicola left, Willow still couldn’t recover from the shock of that phone call.
Cillian’s voice was so loud that Willow found it hard not to overhear. She knew that Nicola would face
another round of beatings and even more unbearable humiliation when she got back.
She didn’t want her to return to Cillian, that psychologically twisted demon, but she couldn’t bring herself
to say it.
She cared about Nicola and couldn’t ignore the fate of her grandmother either.
After being adopted by the Burley family, Nicola found out that her grandmother, who had always been her rock, had survived the earthquake.
But now, her grandmother had been sent overseas by Silas. It was supposedly for treatment, but really, it
was to control Nicola.
Silas gave Nicola to that demon, Cillian, just to let him torture her, and for Sylvia to get her revenge.
If Nicola didn’t endure the torture obediently, it would be her grandmother who suffered.
Nicola resisted once, but Cillian immediately called Silas. Her grandmother’s medication was stopped for three days, leaving her in excruciating pain. Since then, Nicola has never dared to resist again.
Willow felt genuine heartache for Nicola, but her own strength wasn’t enough to help Nicola. Willow was too weak now to even help herself.
She carefully tucked away the 150 thousand dollars from Nicola.
However, Willow didn’t go to the hospital to have her hand checked. She had already spent all her money
on her recent hospitalization and Aaron’s medical expenses. She had to be very careful with her finances.
As someone who was on the brink of death, a few wounds on her hand, even if infected, would only cause some pain. Now, money was more precious to her than her own life.
It seemed there was still a glimmer of hope.
Willow inadvertently heard some news today while working a part–time job. A research institution that specifically focused on cancer research was recently established.
Due to their need for research, they were willing to pay a high price for bodies, especially those of cancer patients. It was said that well–preserved bodies could fetch nearly a million dollars in compensation for
the families.
Willow was ecstatic upon hearing this. She found out the address of the research institution and signed a
body donation agreement with them.
They promised to give her a total of 800 thousand dollars, paying her 400 thousand upfront and the remaining after her passing.
