A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust

Chapter 415

"Can you believe this craziness?"

"Honestly, Calliope is way better than this Yvette. She's prettier too. No matter how Yvette dresses up, she can't hold a candle to Calliope."

"Exactly! Calliope might dress simply, but she still outshines Yvette by miles!"noveldrama

"Besides, isn't Calliope that Miracle Doctor everyone's talking about? I heard a bunch of big shots are scrambling to make appointments with her!"

"So, what's the deal with Yvette? Why would Gideon choose her over Calliope?" "What's her background anyway? Nothing special, that's for sure."

"It's almost funny. Word is, Yvette's dad's a gambling addict, her mom's remarried to a no-good guy, and she's got a half-brother tagging along."

"No way, right? The Baker family, with their status, and he picks a woman like that? The Bakers are practically aristocracy. Shouldn't they be looking for a more fitting match?"

"Gideon's taste is seriously questionable! Yvette acts all small-town. She's bound to embarrass herself even more in the future!"

"Probably a shotgun wedding, huh?"

"Does Yvette have a kid already? Wouldn't be surprised!"

The chatter around them was loud enough for everyone to hear. Not just Calliope and her group, but Gideon and Yvette too.

Gideon had already lost his temper yesterday, so hearing these comments now didn't stir much of a reaction from him. He remained calm, almost detached.

Yvette, however, was another story.

Today was her wedding day, a day every woman cherishes and dreams about. She had gone all out, arranging the ceremony. She had picked what she thought was the most stunning dress, with a veil and all believing herself to be the most beautiful woman on this day.

This should have been the best day of her life. She had achieved her dream— marrying into a wealthy family.

The wedding went on as planned, and though she and Gideon were having some issues, she was confident they could work things out.

But there it was-gossip at her wedding. Not blessings, but skepticism and ridicule filled the air. No one seemed to wish them happiness; instead, many found their situation laughable.

Especially Yvette's.

Today was supposed to be her day, her shining moment. Yet, everyone kept comparing her to Calliope.

Why did they have to compare her to Calliope? In what way was she inferior to Calliope?

Calliope might have a less-than-stellar background, but who cares? She wasn't even favored by her own family! Yvette's family might not be perfect, but she had always worked hard.

Clenching her fists tightly, Yvette didn't want her wedding ruined, so she held her tongue and handed tea to Calliope.

"Aunt, please have some water," she said through gritted teeth, her eyes sharp as daggers.

Calliope ignored Yvette's piercing glare. Taking the water, she sipped it just enough to be polite and handed over a gift.

Despite all the gossip, the wedding ceremony went on without a hitch. Yvette, fearing drama from her side of the family, hadn't even invited her parents to the ceremony at the old family estate.

Once everything was wrapped up there, the party moved to a hotel for lunch.

In the afternoon, a garden ceremony was held on the lawn.

Yvette seemed genuinely happy. Gideon, on the other hand, wasn'tas thrilled He wore a perpetual mask of impatience throughout the day. Every now and then, his gaze would drift off, fixating on Calliope.
