THE FORGOTTEN LUNA

Chapter 43

KAEL.

I saw Dexter's hand coiled on his sides. I met his gaze and told him what to do next. "Go to the bank first thing tomorrow morning and freeze all her accounts. I also want records of her transactions in the last two years, three if possible." "I can do that," Dexter said, nodding his head in respect. "Where is Luna Adessa?"

"I don't know," I answered, leaning forward on my desk again. "I'll be out for a week or two starting tomorrow."

"What?" They asked in unison.

"Where are you going?" Dexter asked.

"I have some business to attend to. All I need is a guarantee this pack will be handled efficiently."

"I don't think you'll have a problem with that. I've been managing this pack in your absence while you were in a coma, but I need to know your whereabouts and what else to expect."

"But you have Luna Adessa giving the final decisions for everything." Landon butted him, debunking his words.

Dexter's forehead creased before he responded to that. "She has the last say, but we both know that she knew nothing about this pack, and I was telling her what to do and what decisions to make."

"Really?" Landon scoffed. "I'm not saying you're not capable of handling this pack, but it seems we have a different Luna because the Luna Adessa I know has her own mind. She would take our opinions but would decide things based on her own judgment. Remember when she fired a contractor and got a new one even though you said no?"

"That's enough. I need both of you to stop fighting like cats and dogs, especially when I'm not here. Alpha Rasmus will stay here while I'm away, so any major decisions have to go through him."

"What? I can handle the pack, Kael. He has his own pack that he needs to take care of!" Dexter sounded upset.

While I agree that Rasmus should take care of his own pack, his Beta and Delta were his trusted men and could function without him. Unlike me, where I was already doubting my own Beta. But of course, I couldn't voice that out.

"You are still free to handle the pack as you want, but then Rasmus will have the last say," I said firmly before I stood up and went to my liquor cabinet.

I twisted the rhum cap open, only to close it again. At this point, I could not guarantee anything in my house was safe, especially since they had access to my office before I kicked them all out and let Rasmus' men take over the house. I had to be careful. I didn't want to be poisoned before I could save Adessa.

"My decision is final. Either you agree with that, or you can both resign as my Beta and Delta." I added.

After that, no one said a word, so I proceeded to state all the instructions so the pack could continue functioning without me.

I noticed throughout the meeting that Dexter asked where Adessa was more than twice, but I kept ignoring him.

I sent them out after the meeting, and Dexter hurriedly left my house. Landon was already driving away when I asked one of the Rasmus' men to stop him and tell him to return to my office.

"Fuck, I'm glad you called for me. I was already thinking of calling you to tell you something." He said this as soon as the door was locked.

"Talk."

"Did you see how Dexter reacted when you said that Luna Adessa had told you that Miranda was the one who caused her this mess?"

I nodded.

"What do you think?"This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

"I want to believe he was upset that Miranda did this to his Luna, but I knew he never liked Adessa," I told him, as Dexter had never said anything good about her since I woke up.

"Gotcha!" He sat down on the chair in front of my desk. "So I knew he was furious that Adessa pointed at Miranda and not the other way around."

My brows hiked up, and I was just looking at him.

"Look, Alpha. You already know I

don't like your Beta, and I'm not trying to badmouth him, but I have been thinking about everything these past few days while you were away, Did you know Luna Adessa installed more cameras around the packhouse when you were in a coma? She wanted to see the whole house if ever she was not home for work, so she knew who was in the house with you."

"I didn't know that."

"That's not the story yet. I installed one on the balcony of the second floor. The one facing a wall."

I knew that one. We had to build a wall for the extension on the other side, and it blocked off that balcony.

"She wanted one there, as there was still space to sneak in, so I put one. And I didn't inform Dexter until two days later when all the cameras were already in place. Guess who I saw there a few hours after the camera started functioning?" He opened his phone and played a video.

Dexter was standing on that balcony, and a moment later, Miranda came. They talked, and in just less than a minute, they were already kissing and groping each other. The encounter didn't last long. Miranda went away while Dexter used that little space to exit the balcony. "The fuck..." I grunted.

"At the beginning, I thought it was

just nothing. I mean, everybody can have a little fun, right? So I just ignored it and thought it was either they just stopped or they would eventually come out as a couple. And forgot about it until I caught him staring at Luna Miranda a lot, and this moment came to mind. I found out he'd been visiting her at midnight and leaving her home before dawn."

"Are you suggesting..."

"Will I be the bad guy if I say, yes, I don't trust your Beta, and he surely knew what Luna Miranda did to Adessa?"

"So you think he knows where Miranda is?"

Everything Landon said just strengthened my belief that Dexter wanted Adessa away. The only thing I was missing was the part where he and Miranda had a relationship. But everything made perfect sense as to why he hated Adessa when he should have been the one protecting her.

"That part I think he doesn't know." He said.

"What do you mean?"

"Dexter is not good with hiding his

reaction if caught off guard. He seemed surprised and upset when we were notified of Luna Miranda leaving the territory. He told me right

away he would check her he

drove off immediately, and I

followed him after a while.

driving away. He didn't even look around. He looked really upset."

"Miranda ditched him too."

"Could be. But we can't slack off. This may be part of their plan to keep her informed about things happening here."

"If I don't have anything to do, I will stay and deal with them, but I have other pressing matters to attend to," I said in exasperation.

"Luna Adessa, right? You don't have to tell me what your plans are. I understand that you don't trust anyone around you right now, which is a good thing. So do what you need to do. Let me take care of things here, and with Alpha Rasmus, I know he can control whatever plans Dexter had in mind. I would be more worried if you left and put Dexter in charge."

I just nodded my head. The goddess knew how much I wanted to tell Landon my plans, but he was right-it was better to be careful because this was Adessa's life on the line.

"By the way, the person you asked to trail Desiree came here this morning." He added.

"Did he tell you something?" I closed my eyes, not really wanting anything to do with Desiree at the moment.

"No. He said your instruction was clear-not to tell anyone except you. But he said he has information you'll be interested in."

My eyes snapped open to look at him as curiosity got the best of me. "Call him first thing tomorrow morning. I want him here before breakfast."
