In the hospital corridor, Emma took interns to do rounds. She had just come out of the ward and was
looking down at the medical records. As she walked, she checked the homework of the intern beside
her while the others followed behind.
"Dr. Lang, the patient of bed 8 obviously had a miscarriage. Why did you tell her family that it was an
acute appendicitis?"
Emma tapped on the medical record in her hand and pointed to the 'Unmarried' and "underage"
column. She was about to say something to the intern when she saw two familiar figures walking
towards her from down the hall.
William had already changed out of the hospital's clothes, he was back to wearing his own clothes.
Emma had to admit, his shirt showed off his body really well, he's gained a lot more muscles over the
last 7 years. The look on his face however, was still cold and distant.
Jennifer had her hands looped through his arm and was smiling while saying something to William.
The intern beside her gushed, "It's Mr. Montgomery and his fiancée from the VIP ward. The two of them
look like a good match!"
In the past, when Emma was still dating William, there were very few people who knew about their
relationship. Jennifer being one of them.
"Emma, I think you and William are a good match! I’m so envious." That's what Jennifer said to her
when she found out about their relationship.
Now that she heard the word 'match' again, but people are saying that about Jennifer. How ironic.
"Ms. Lang?" the intern's voice pulled Emma back from her thoughts.
"Erm." She avoided her gaze as if nothing had happened. "The patient is sixteen, she has a right to
keep her pregnancy a secret and that's what she requested. So remember to keep the pregnancy a
secret for now."
"Okay, I got it."
As they spoke, William and Jennifer stopped in front of her.
"Doctor Lang is really busy. She doesn't just save lives, but also teaches students."
It sounded like a compliment, but Emma could distinctly hear the mockery in William's tone.
They haven't seen each other for a few days, and he's looking better than he did when he first got here.
He even has the energy to taunt her now.
Jennifer took the initiative to speak first and avoid the awkwardness. "Emma, William and I are just
about to leave the hospital."
Her voice was gentle and intimate, as if she was talking to an old friend, but her hands that held William
Montgomery's arm tightened a little, on purpose without a doubt.
Emma's expression did not change. "Congratulations, and I wish you a happy wedding in advance. "
"Thank you, Emma. You're busy, we…"
Before Jennifer finished speaking, William interrupted her. The tone was neither cold nor indifferent, but
there were wisps of pressure. "If you sincerely want to congratulate us, why don't you come to the
wedding and have a toast next month?"
Jennifer looked up at William's face in shock. After all, he had rejected this suggestion before.
William raised his arm and held Jennifer West's hand. He clenched his fingers in front of Emma and the
interns behind her. "Without you, I would've never met my wonderful Jennifer. How can you not be
there to witness our marriage?"
William's voice was low and soft but it was like a knife stabbing Emma's heart.
Emma felt like her blood was going to freeze over, and her knees almost gave out. With great difficulty,
Emma found her voice again and said with difficulty, "The hospital is very busy. I may not have time."
William Montgomery stared at her face and said in a cold voice, "You don't have time or you don't want
to come?"
Emma choked.
Jennifer has never seen William act like this before, especially not in public. If this was before, Jennifer
would be delighted that William held her hand in public, but now, she could not be happy at all.
